Before Installing The Converter To The Transmission
1. If the transmission is not cool, drain all old oil, clean the pan and replace the filter or clean screen.
2. A bottom lines of colored oil cooler with varsol clean or suitable solvent. Repeat alternately on both lines until the air cleaner and then blow through the system. If you notice any restriction on the lines or the refrigerator, should be replaced. If any turns or twists in the lines to restrict the flow of oil, the lines should be replaced.

3. The cooler in the radiator must be clean and in good condition. If you had previous transmission failure, which deposited metal particles in the lines and the refrigerator – replacement. Your local radiator shop can install it. Could be the best investment you make. ATI strongly recommends the inclusion of a heavy duty external oil cooler. This will greatly increase the life of your transmission. When installed, the oil flow transmission path through the radiator, then through the cooler air and back to the transmission. The line closest to the lower radiator hose is the return line to the transmission and must route through the radiator. Use only steel line. The use of braided line is prohibited unless it is coated with Teflon. Never use steel braided line for cold lines unless Teflon coated! A blockage in the line of twisted steel can affect the flow of fluids without being visible from the outside. This condition can lead to inconsistent results or transmission failure.

4. If an external oil cooler is not used, a bridge line must be connected to the “entrance and exit of the transmission lines. ATI transmissions are not guaranteed against overheating.
5. Check the size of the screw (supplied with the converter) used to secure the converter to the flywheel for a proper fit. If necessary, drill the flywheel to the proper size. Drill holes in the flexible plate .010 “larger than the screws are used!
6. Make sure the contact surface of engine block and transmission housing are clean and free of nicks, paint, dirt, etc. Use a file to clean and smooth the surface.
7. Inspect the contact surface of the engine block dowels. The pin should be firmly on the block, in good condition, and sufficient time to excel in the transmission bell housing at least 3 / No 16 by counting the total diameter chamfer.

8. Before final installation, set the converter to the flywheel and make sure the pads and recessed mounting the wheel and in correct alignment with the bolt pattern. With the pads to the color wheel, the pilot of the converter must be a good fit on the crankshaft, with about 1 / 8 “minimum extending to the lever below the chamfer.
9. Inspect the condition of the hub age converter for use, scoring or other damage. The tread wear may indicate that it supports the center cap is defective and must be replaced before installation of the converter again. The seal and front pump bushing must be replaced by a competent repair shop.
10. In all transmissions, Ford and Chrysler factory bronze bush in front of the pump should be replaced by a white metal bushing type. Hubs are available in stores or directly transmitted from ATI. ATI All transmissions come standard with this hub is installed and packaged with the converter from ATI.
