Suzuki Grand Vitara 3 and 5 Door 4 Speed Automatic PDF Guide
With a choice of 3-door Estate and Soft Top, 5-door Estate, and 5- and 7-seater XL-7 models (see separate Model Summary), Suzuki’s Grand Vitara range provides one of the most comprehensive SUV line-ups in the UK market. All are stylish, well equipped and competitively priced, and bear the hallmarks of an SUV heritage that stretches back over 30 years.
Exceptionally comfortable and well-appointed interiors are matched to rugged good looks that clearly signal Grand Vitara’s go anywhere capabilities. And as well as looking the part, when there’s a need to go off the beaten track, the Grand Vitara’s ‘Drive Select’ 4×4 system
– which enables the driver to change from two-wheel to four-wheel drive high ratio on the move and in a straight line at up to 62 mph – ensures that maximum power and torque are delivered smoothly, quietly and with optimum efficiency.
Four-wheel drive proficiency is backed up by a tough ladder frame chassis, approach and departure angles of 29 degrees, and long-travel suspension: MacPherson struts and coil springs at the front / and a rigid axle, trailing arms, Panhard rod and coil springs at the rear. It’s a set up that ensures exceptional performance off-road as well as a comfortable and refined ride during everyday driving.
The 3-door range

Power is provided by either an all-alloy 1.6-litre, SOHC, 16-valve in-line four-cylinder petrol engine with multi-point injection, or, on the Estate only, a 2.0-litre common rail diesel engine. As well as the standard 5-speed manual, the petrol engine can be mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission as an option.
Petrol engined models develop an output of 94 ps [69 kW] and maximum torque of 102 lb.ft [138 Nm] to deliver 35.3 mpg on the Combined cycle [30.7 mpg for automatic-equipped models] and a 0 to 62 mph time of 13 seconds [15 seconds auto]. The advanced four-cylinder 1997 cc 16-valve common rail turbodiesel produces 107 bhp [108.8 ps/80 kW] at 4,000 rpm. Maximum torque of 199 lb.ft [270 Nm] is generated at 1,750
rpm and – with a combined fuel consumption figure of 38.7 mpg – its economy is impressive. more…
