New Golf 1999-2001 – New Jetta Wiring Harness and Coolant Migration PDF Manual

Condition Coolant leak from the reservoir bottle wiring connector contaminates the wiring. The contamination can cause various malfunctions of the instrument cluster. This kit contains overlapping straps, splice connectors, tape, and the installation of pipes needed to repair the affected harnesses. The instrument cluster, coolant bottle and fuel pump / fuel sender must be replaced.

Service If a cluster has a malfunction:
- Record the mileage of the vehicle (odometer reading adaptation) (see Repair Manual).
- Print any and all instrument cluster and the adaptation of the coding using the VAS 5051 for use after repairs are complete.
- Remove instrument cluster (see Repair Manual).
- Remove contact plate blue wire housing cover and inspect the terminals for moisture or corrosion. If moisture or corrosion is found (arrow):
- Repair of wiring using the repair kit 1JM 998 001.
