Put an American V8 engine in a Mercedes 107 Chassis Most owners find a 450SL power to be “appropriate.” E ‘a heavy car for its size, however, and it is majestic, rather than aggressive or impressive in its acceleration. In additon, the high cost of an engine rebuild leads many to consider trading in a V8 American as an alternative to having their 4.5 liters V8 rebuilt when it comes time to rebuild.
First of all, there is no “kit” engine mounts, Electricals, and so on, which would make it easier to swap (there are kits for Jaguar, but not for older Mercedes). Therefore, any swap is “from scratch” - as a companion 450SL owner commiserated:”(Chevy 350) the engine is in the car, but (not) is not suitable, the oil filter casing is against the steering gear, we must use the remote filter kit that are out there, if only we can get the casing for clear the box. When I decided to start investing in a project I made to add the Denver Post (which is where I am) to see if there were any mechanical shop or out there to swap.
This research was, after the project and decided that I wanted to try because of the cost of MBZ engine and its lack of power. I had already had the top end rebuilt several years back and considered it then. I had several calls and settled on what seemed the most optimistic about the project. Money will start to be a problem. The engine is new, with a mile on it, all the parts I purchased are of high quality so that I have about $ 8000 including shares in the engine. They have not yet paid the mechanic, but that will not be cheap I will have to draw a line somewhere along the journey. I can get the money back from my part, but if I made the great king of the manufacturing cost of Engineering may be higher than the result.
