Jeep Grand Cherokee 2005 Exhaust System PDF Installation Manual

Original Exhaust System Removal Note: With a used vehicle, we suggest a penetrating spray lubricant to be applied liberally to all exhaust asteners and allowing a significant period of time for the chemical to lubricate the threads before attempting to disassemble.

1. Unbolt the flange shown in figure 1 located in front of the rear muffler assembly.
2. Unbolt the flange shown in figure 2 located ahead of the front muffler assembly. Make sure to remove the ground strap also shown.
3. Lubricate all the hangers and rubber isolators.
4. Using a muffler stand or an additional person to hold the front muffler assembly up in place, remove the hangers from the rubber isolators and then remove the front muffler assembly as shown in figure 3.
5. Safely lift the vehicle allowing for the rear axle to drop. Using a muffler stand or an additional person to hold the rear muffler assembly up in place, remove the hangers from the rubber isolators and then remove the rear muffler assembly as shown in figure 4.

1. Place the muffler assembly up into position as shown in figure 5 making sure to install the hanger into the rubber isolator. Using the hardware supplied, install the ground strap and hand tighten the flange for now.
2. Place a clamp over the expanded end of the tail pipe and set it into position as tighten shown in figure 6 installing the hanger into the rubber isolator. Do Not the clamp.
3. Check your exhaust system for proper clearance under the vehicle and also for tip alignment.
4. Once position has been determined to be correct, tighten the Accuseal™ clamps to 32-35 ft. lbs. and the flange hardware to 18-22 ft. lbs.
6. Before starting your vehicle, make sure to check all wires, hoses, brake lines, body parts and tires for safe clearance from the exhaust system.
7. Start vehicle and check for any leaks. If any leaks are found, determine cause (such as loose or incorrectly positioned clamp) and repair as necessary.
