Ford Expedition/Navigator Secure Idle 1997-2002 PDF Installation Manual


“SECURE IDLE” is an ignition bypass intended to provide all the electrical functions that the OEM ignition switch normally. For proper operation and long-term performance, not to deviate from the direction of son connection. For each wire connection, remove approximately one half inch of insulation from the OEM son, but DO NOT cut the wire.

To cut the high resistance and causes a possible point of failure. Strip app. a half-inch of insulation from the end of the “SECURE IDLE” son to be attached to the OEM son. Wrap the “SECURE IDLE” wire around the bare area of the OEM and solder the son of connection. Band connection thoroughly after it cools.

DO NOT use “Scotch Lock” through clamp-type connectors. These connectors can not handle the higher amperage ignition circuits, and void the “SECURE IDLE” warranty. Use the wiring diagram attached to locate the correct placement of pins and son.

INSTALLATION
1. Remove the panel below the dashboard under the steering column to access the OEM ignition, which is mounted on the steering column. Mount the “SECURE IDLE” unit near the ignition switch.
2. Find a good metal ground and connect the BLACK “SECURE IDLE” wire connector using the provided ring.
3. Locate the OEM ignition switch and wiring. Remove the insulation of the Gray / Yellow wire, Pin A4, Circuit 687, and attach the RED 14 Ga. “SECURE IDLE” wire according to the instructions above. This OEM wire will be hot in RUN ONLY.
4. Locate the DK.BLUE / LT.GREEN thread, I Pin 1, the circuit 964. Attach the WHITE 14 Ga. “SECURE IDLE” wire according to the instructions.
