Fast Ferrari Door Panels Windows HowTo PDF Installation Manual

Remove the Lower inner door panel and (if needed) remove the speaker. This picture is from a 1990 348 TS. Many Ferraris of this era have door panels that are made of several pieces. You will only need to remove as many of these panels as needed to get to the window harness wires. On my 348 you need to pull the bottom panel straight out on the bottom of the panel to get the plastic fastener out of the door. I will cover replacement fasteners later. Locate the wires that go to the electric windows. On my 348 these are yellow and blue. These wires may be in a black protective sheathing. You may need to cut the sheathing some to expose these wires.

Once you locate the wires that go to the electric window motors and (if need be) cut some of the protective sheathing off you can begin the installation. It is best to cut one wire at a time. The picture shows both wires cut. To avoid confusion I suggest you cut one wire. Slide a piece of the supplied adhesive lined shrink tubing over each of the window wires and push them back so you have room to add the butt splices. Using the butt splices provided you will be reconnecting the wires you cut but adding one gray wire to each from the box. It does not matter which gray wire you add to each window motor wire. The box will automatically determine the correct polarity.

Once the butt splices have been crimped slide the adhesive lined shrink tubing over the butt splices and center it over the butt splices. Use a heat gun and heat the shrink tube making a moisture resistant connection. Locate a suitable ground. On my 348 there were a few hex bolts near by. I used one for the ground. If there are no bolts near by you will need to determine the best location for a ground. Drill a hole if need be. Make sure you scrape the paint enough to get a good ground. Locate a good place to mount the box. Move the window to its lowest position. On my 348 there was plenty of room just behind the speaker. I used some silicone (supplied in the kit) and glued the box to the bottom of the door. On other Ferraris you may want to do something different.

There are 2 holes in the flanges that stick out of each end of the box. You may drill and screw the box if that works in you installation. Test the window movement full up and down. I’m sure you will now see a significant improvement. Make sure there are no interference problems with the box and wires. Reinstall the speaker and the lower door panel(s).
