Chevrolet 2500HD 2002-2006 Torsion Bar Adjuster Kit PDF Manual

Period of installation of this system is approximately 2 hours (see list of recommended tool is shown below). This kit is usually sold as a front end leveling kit, but can be sold in combination with rear blocks and u-bolts or the rear add-a-list. Shocks with longer travel are recommended. The suspension system was developed using 285 x 75R16 tires on 8 “wheels. Before installing other combinations, please contact the tire and wheel specialist. Installation Instructions
1st Place vehicle in neutral. Lift the front of the vehicle with a tire jack to increase slightly with the ground and support frame with jack stands under each frame rail under the lower control arms. Installation is carried out on one side at a time, starting with the driver’s side. Adjusting torsion bars are under the cab of the vehicle at the rear end of the torsion bars. 2nd Measures or to take note of how much the fiber remaining on the torsion bar adjuster bolt. Bars will be reset to the same place with the new events. Use extreme caution when loading and unloading torsion bars, there is a huge amount of energy stored in them.

Keep hands and body clear adjuster arm assembly and puller tool in case something slips or breaks. Note: Due to the extreme loads generated torsion bars on these vehicles, a standard tow-jaw puller can bend “lips” on the cross member and my pop out of place. For best results, use a torsion bar puller tool. If you can not find one locally, this tool (J-22517-C) is available from Kent Moore Tools, Roseville, Michigan (800-345-2233) or Ball Joint Remover can be used as the OTC7249. 3rd The driver’s side with torsion bar removal tool, removal of the vehicle torsion bar adjuster. Loading torsion bar tool, remove the bolt and nut block it. Interpreting bar, torsion bar slide forward to allow OE torsion key to get out.
4th Install the new torsion bar adjuster with torsion bar tool. Reinstall threaded block and sets.

5th Repeat steps for the passenger. Ensuring driver and passenger side torsion bar adjusting bolts are regulated in the same amount. Fine-tuning takes place in a later step. 6th After adjusting torsion bars have been installed and tightened to factory measurements taken in step # 2
7th Jack the front of the vehicle and remove jack stands. Lower vehicle to the ground, where the torsion bars support the weight of the vehicle. Check for level. 8th Additional adjustment may be necessary at the vehicle, either tightening or loosening of the torsion bars. This is done with the floor jack supporting the side of the vehicle, which is regulated, increasing the tire slightly off the ground and just set the screw 1.2 turns at the time to ensure compensation wheelchair. After adjusting the lower the vehicle to the ground and recheck the level. This may take several attempts.
