VNS is a navigation system developed by Volvo, which is designed to help guide you to the destination of your choice and provide information along the way. RTT1 (Real Time Traffic) is an information system developed by Volvo, which can detect roads/streets with traffic disruptions and make it possible to select an alternative route past the problem area.
Engine Volvo 6-cylinder, in-line, direct-injected, turbocharged, inter-cooled 4-cycle low-emission diesel engine with overhead valves and wet replaceable cylinder linings. Meets USA (EPA), California off-road regulation 1996 and European off-road regulation 1997. Fan: Hydrostatic-driven, thermostatically controlled radiator fan, consuming power only when needed.
All engines are transverse with four valves per cylinder and multipoint fuel injection (multipoint direct fuel injection on D5 and T6). High torque figures at low engine speeds provide plenty of smooth flexibility, and the S80 engine line-up provides a range of power outputs from 140bhp to 272bhp to suit all customers.
As an enhancement to the three-point seat belt system, your Volvo is equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). The Volvo SRS consists of an airbag (2) on both the driver’s and passenger’s sides and seat belt tensioners in both front door pillars (4). The system is designed to supplement the protection provided by the three-point seat belt system. All three rear seat belts are also equipped with tensioners.
DiCE – Diagnostic Communication Equipment, is a tool that is used together with VIDA All-in-one to communicate with the vehicle. Communication makes diagnosing and troubleshooting the vehicle possible, as well as the downloading of software. DiCE uses Bluetooth to transfer information wirelessly between the vehicle and VIDA All-in-one. This gives the mechanics more flexibility. An USB cable can be used as an alternative to Bluetooth. DiCE has an integrated CARB cable, which is connected to the vehicle’s diagnostic socket. When connecting to the vehicle, DiCE is powered as long as the battery is charged. DiCE has a folding hook that is designed for hanging the unit from one of the grab handles in the
vehicle for example. When DiCE hangs visibly, Bluetooth reception is optimized and it is also visible to the mechanic.

Important note: The diesel left-hand-drive European model was tested by Euro NCAP. Australasian specifications may vary and therefore models sold in Australasia might provide different levels of protection to those described on this page. Model History and Safety Features The tested model of Volvo XC60 was introduced in Australia in March 2009. Dual front airbags, side airbags and head-protecting side curtains are standard equipment. Antilock brakes (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD), emergency brake assist and electronic stability control (ESC) are also standard. Intelligent seat belt reminders are fitted all seats. City Safety – an advanced collision avoidance system – is standard. Several other advanced safety features are available. The front seat belt buckles are mounted on the seats and the upper anchorages are adjustable. These features improve the fit of the seat belt. Pretensioners are fitted to all seat belts to reduce slack in the event of a crash. A three point seat belt is fitted to the centre rear seat. This provides better protection than a two point (lap) seat belt.
The Volvo XC60 Concept takes centre stage at the Detroit Motor Show, integrating both the unmistakable, muscular XC-versatility and the sporty charisma of a coupe. “One might say that this could be the C30 owner’s next car. Equally sporty and exciting, but far more capable. The concept car offers a good indication of what the “real” XC60 will look like,” says Fredrik Arp, President and CEO of Volvo Cars. The new Volvo XC60 is planned to reach the showrooms at the beginning of 2009. The concept car shows that Volvo Cars’ XC60 project is ready to challenge the ompetition in what is currently the toughest and fastest-growing segment in the automotive world – the Small Premium Utility segment.
