In Jun 2010, Toyota released the Toyota Auris gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle. Except where noted in this guide, basic vehicle systems and features for the Auris hybrid are the same as those on the conventional non-hybrid Toyota Auris. To educate and assist emergency responders
in the safe handling of the Auris hybrid technology, Toyota published this Auris hybrid Emergency Response Guide.
Some factory hubs are installed with locking cones, which can be difficult to remove. Two methods to dislodge the locking cones are:
1) Place a socket slightly larger than the cone against the hub flange and rap sharply with a hammer.
2) Place a brass punch on the end of the stud and rap sharply with a hammer.
The Toyota Tacoma note: Wheel and tire may need to be removed for hub access, and hub cosmetic cover (if present) needs to be removed from wheel and discarded before re-installation, to clear Warn hub body.
The Surbo gives more energy, enabling quick acceleration towards the more economical higher gears in a shorter time. If driving on highways, the vehicle easily exceeds speed limits due to the higher torque, so there will be more rolling and thus exceptional fuel engine savings. In the city, there is the same extra rolling momentum due to quicker acceleration, but much of that can be lost to braking. Thus, fuel savings can range from minimum zero (during hard sprinting in the city) to over twenty percent on the highway. Most customers report an overall improvement of 10% in economy. The following cars have been made more frugal with Surbo, control too. Running without cruise control, the highway consumption was 14-15 km/litre, but when the cruise control was turned on, Azman could feel the accelerator being automatically depressed further from his foot, and the extra pedal travel brought the highway consumption back to the original 12-13 km/litre. This shows that with a Surbo, the driver will press less on the accelerator and this will contribute to a more relaxing drive, and of course more economy.
Check your tire pressure every month to make sure it’s up to specification, especially before long trips or carrying extra weight. Lower pressure increases heat. Infrared photography of tires tested at high speed. Damaging heat increases as inflation pressure drops. For accuracy, check your inflation pressure with a tire gauge when tires are cold. Driving heats up tires and makes the reading incorrect.

Two Toyota Highlander all-wheel drive hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) entered Accelerated testing in a fleet in Arizona during October 2005. After reaching 160,000 miles each, the two Highlanders will have their traction batteries tested before they are retired.
One page vehicle fact sheets and maintenance logs have been posted on nearby www pages. The information includes miles driven, fuel economy, operations and maintenance requirements, operating costs, and life-cycle costs. The two Highlanders have been driven a total of 320,541 miles and the cumulative average fuel economy was 24.4 mpg at the end of testing.
