While the Toyota Prius 2012 Plug-in Hybrid is not available at your local Toyota dealers yet, the company has been allowing government agencies, universities, and some car writers around the country to test drive the approximately 160 vehicles they have equipped with lithium-ion batteries for their demonstration program.
This installation manual shows an example of an installation on a Toyota Tacoma; however, the installation may vary for your vehicle, so it may be necessary to consult the Toyota service manual for specific instructions for your year model.

Below is the procedure, which you must follow in order to program new keys. We give an example for programming 2 keys: 1. Press the button “Program Keys”. 2. Insert the first valid key into the ignition and turn the ignition On for at least 3 seconds but no longer than 15 seconds.
Turn the ignition Off and remove the first key. 3. Insert the second valid key and switch the ignition On within 15 seconds. After ten seconds a chime will sound and the Theft Alarm Light will begin to flash.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. Remove the cover from the hazard switch then unclip the switch. Unplug and remove the switch. (Figure A). Unclip the panel above the radio including a/c vents and clock. Unplug and remove the panel. Tip: Start pulling from the inside of the hazard switch cavity. (Figure B). Unclip and remove panel surrounding shifter. (Figure C). Unclip and remove pocket and seat heater switch panel. (Figure D). Remove (4) 10 MM screws to securing the radio/climate control assembly.
Lexus completely redesigned the sus pension system in this model and added all the technology imaginable with it. These technological innova tions within the cabin are intuitive as well as accessible. A voice command system offers even more capability than the already advanced standard voice recogni tion system, allowing you to control many features using normal, every day speech.
The Auris hybrid features a high voltage Hybrid Vehicle (HV) battery pack that contains sealed Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery modules. HV Battery Pack:
• The HV battery pack is enclosed in a metal case and is rigidly mounted to the cargo area floor pan cross member behind the rear seat. The metal case is isolated from high voltage and concealed by carpet in the cabin area.
• The HV battery pack consists of 28 low voltage (7.2 Volt) NiMH battery modules connected in series to produce approximately 201.6 Volts. Each NiMH battery module is non-spillable and in a sealed case.
• The electrolyte used in the NiMH battery module is an alkaline mixture of potassium and sodium hydroxide. The electrolyte is absorbed into the battery cell plates and will not normally leak, even in a collision.
