Fuel is drawn through the Main System (Figure 3) by the pressure-drop that occurs when the incoming air flow must increase in velocity in order to pass the reduced throat areas at the Main Venturi (1) and the Boost Venturi (2). This pressure-drop (or suction) is communicated to the system by the Nozzle (3)-a brass tube that opens into the inside of the Booster Venturi (2).

FITTING.
The Volkswagen brake kits 4- or 5- stud, can be fitted to all VW Beetle which were either fitted as standard with steering knuckles for disc brakes or have been convertd at a later date. NOTE: Dia. of the stub axle for the inner bearing – 29 mm. ’65-’67 models with could have 27 mm.

1 Disconnect the negative battery ter-minal to prevent an accidental short circuit.
2 Unclip entire panel surrounding radio including a/c vents and clock. Unplug and remove panel. (Figure A)
3 Remove (4) 7MM screws securing radio. Unplug and remove radio. (Figure B)
Continue to kit assembly.

Canvas Top Removal. Refer to your Owner’s Manual for instructions on lowering and removing the canvas top. ALL hardware for your soft top should be removed. This includes the trim around the body. Some of the screws from the Canvas Top Hardware will be used in the Hardtop installation, so keep them available.
The AMC 20 sports 12 bolts and a WWI helmet-shaped cover. It’s ring and pinion is 3/8” larger than the D44, but uses smaller shafts and smaller axle tubes, which tend to flex more and lead to breakage.
