Introducing the second generation of the first in its class: the 2007 BMW X5. Redesigned to offer more of everything that made the original BMW X5 so popular, the new X5 is longer and wider, with increased cabin space and an optional third-row seat. New, more powerful V-8 and six-cylinder engines offer excellent performance. A broad complement of innovative features and active safety technologies include Dynamic Stability Control with Brake Drying, Brake Stand-by and other enhancements, as well as Adaptive Drive system (included in Sport Package) and optional Head-up Display. The X5 for 2007: a perfect balance of everything that matters in BMW’s flagship Sports Activity Vehicle.

The 2007 X5 gets a bold, new look to match its dynamic personality. The X5 has a wider, sportier stance than its predecessor; the “face” and the power dome are more aggressively styled. Xenon Adaptive Headlights with Corona light-rings are standard. Five sporty light-alloy wheel designs allow personalized styling. Shadowline trim (included in Sport Package) updates the look of the front and rear windows. Standard exhaust tips come in either chrome (on the X5 4.8i) or stainless steel (on the 3.0si). The exterior door and tailgate handles on both models are painted to match the body, which is finished in one of nine stunning colors, including Platinum Bronze (start of production December 2006), Deep Green or Monaco Blue. And optional running boards provide an eye-catching and easy way for passengers to get into or out of this impressive SAV.

The X5 offers many ways to create a luxurious interior, with available Nevada and Napa Leather upholsteries in a range of colors, as well as a choice of elegant trims: Dark Burl Walnut, Light Poplar, and Dark Bamboo Wood; and Graphite. There’s even a choice of options for front seats, such as the Active Ventilated Seat Package that offers 20-way multi-contour adjustments, warming or cooling ventilation, and driver’s- side massage function; or 10-way power front sport seats with manual thigh adjustment and memory system for the driver’s seat, included with the Sport Package. Select the standard MP3-ready, 12-speaker sound system, or upgrade to the premium 16-speaker system, for powerful audio clarity. HD Radio™ and SIRIUS Satellite Radio options add to the listening pleasure. And overhead, an optional Panoramic moonroof with two oversized glass panels – one slides, both tilt – makes it easy for all passengers to enjoy the view.

Big news for backseat passengers: the all-new 2007 BMW X5 now offers an optional third-row seat,1 so seven people can enjoy the X5’s luxurious comfort and thrilling performance. Additionally, when equipped with the optional third-row seat, the second-row seatbacks can recline. Front-seat and second-row passengers can enjoy the customizable comfort of optional heated seats and four-zone climate control. And rear-seat passengers can enjoy an optional rear-seat entertainment feature that includes a fold-down 8-inch color screen, a six-CD/DVD Multimedia hanger, a pair of wireless headphones, and headphone jacks.

The 2007 X5 makes the most of its functional storage capacity, both inside and out. With plenty of usable interior space, groceries and cargo are stowed with ease. Tracks in the cargo area (included in the Premium Package) allow larger items to be lashed down. Bicycles, skis and oversized gear are easily hauled via the integrated roof rack, using BMW load-carrying accessories. And an automatic tailgate (available spring 2007) gives easy access to the X5’s cargo area, opening or closing the upper tailgate with the touch of a button.

Many older vehicles (made before the 1996 model year) from certain manufacturers have safety belts in the front seat that are not designed to anchor child safety seats tightly. Some have buckles anchored very far forward. Many have automatic (passive) front safety belts either attached to the door of the vehicle or moving on a track above the door. Some have separate lap belts that do not lock tightly around child safety seats. Special parts may be ordered from the vehicle manufacturer to solve some of these problems.

Children should be buckled up in the back seat, if possible. However, it may be necessary to place a child safety seat in the front if all rear seating positions are in use by other children or the child safety seat cannot be firmly attached in the rear. Some manufacturers of cars with automatic belts have provided special child seat buckles or belts for anchoring a child safety seat tightly in the front seat, if necessary.

The parts listed below should ONLY be used when installing a child safety seat in one of these specific vehicles, not for restraining an older
child or adult passenger. Order them from your local dealership. Dealer parts departments may not be familiar with these parts, as they are not ordered frequently. Manufacturer customer service numbers are included, in case you wish to inquire further.

Some pre-1996 vehicles have lap belts that will not stay locked after they have been tightened. They may be in the front or the back seat. For these belts, the webbing of the lap belt is sewn to the buckle tongue; there may be no shoulder belt or one that is made of a separate piece of webbing. To install a child safety seat, this type of lap belt must be shortened with a “belt-shortening clip” (BSC). The metal BSC is used to fix the length of the lap belt that has an emergency-locking retractor (ELR), the type that only locks during a crash. The clip takes all excess webbing out of the lap belt.

The manufacturers listed below made one or more vehicles that require the use of a belt- shortening clip to install a child safety seat. Some
vehicles made by manufacturers not on the list also have belts that need this part. A belt-shortening clip from any of the vehicle manufacturers listed can be used on another manufacturer’s vehicle; they are interchangeable. Use these part numbers to order the clip from the dealer parts department. It is important but sometimes difficult to obtain the appropriate instructions. Belt-shortening clips sold by most vehicle dealers do not include belt..

Tips for a Spotless Exterior
1. Wash your vehicle in a shaded area. Your vehicle’s surface should be cool. If the car’s hot, the soap suds will dry too quickly, staining the surface and requiring another wash.
2. Pre-soak your vehicle to remove heavy contaminants like boulders and squirrel remains.
3. Use mild liquid soap and a car-wash mitt or sponge– and don’t skimp on the water.
4. Wash one section at a time, and then rinse it off. Start with the roof of the car, then proceed to the hood and the rear. Next, clean the upper sections of the sides, and then, finally, clean the lower areas, including the rocker panels, which invariably have the most dirt. Why this sequence? If you clean the lower sections first, you’ll wash the dirt from the top of the car back down onto the lower parts.
But, more importantly, you run the risk of having small pieces of debris adhere to the mitt or sponge, and could scratch the vehicle.
5. Always hose off your mitt or sponge before putting it back in the wash bucket to re-soap. In other words, start with a bucket of clean soap– and end with a bucket of clean soap.
6. Rinse your vehicle thoroughly. When you think you’re done rinsing—that’s when you give it a final rinse!
7. Use a different mitt to clean the tires and rims. Using a separate mitt for the wheels will reduce the chance that you’ll scratch the car’s paint with brake dust and dirt you pick up from the rims.
8. Be very cautious when cleaning wheels, especially if you’re using a spray-on wheel cleaner. This is not just for your car’s health, but for your’s as well. Wheels can be extremely hot if the car has just been driven. This is especially likely with wheels that use high-performance brakes. When you spray wheel-cleaning chemicals on hot metal, the chemicals will vaporize—and you’ll inhale them, which can’t possibly be good for you. (See also: Tommy).
9. Forget the pricey automotive cleaners. Instead, use a mild, liquid soap that’s well diluted. That’ll do everything you need, such as removing dirt, grease, and films without damaging plastics or other materials. Plus, it’s a lot cheaper than the aggressively marketed, fancy products.

Tips for a Tidy Interior
1. Refer to the owner’s manual before attempting to clean the interior of your vehicle. I’ve found that many of today’s auto components are very sensitive to cleaners. Before you start, test each of the interior materials in small, out-of-the-way locations, where consequences won’t be too terrible if it doesn’t work out. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Do you want to look at the spray pattern from a can of Super Duper Quikkie-Kleen for the rest of the life of your car?

2. Don’t vacuum hard to reach places—instead, blow it out by connecting your vacuum hose to the vacuum outlet. It is most effective to rapidly toggle the power switch on your vacuum between “on” and “off.” Here’s why. If you blow the debris out at full speed, it’s going to fly all over the vehicle. Doing it at a reduced power, however, will move the debris just far enough so you can access it, then easily vacuum it up.

3. Get a paint brush and a toothbrush. These are the two best tools for accessing hard-to- reach cracks, crevices and corners. The paint brush is great for reaching into deep locations. Vacuum with one hand as you brush those hard-to-reach locations, and you’ll quickly clean up tricky spots. Leave both brushes in your glove compartment, so you’ll have them when you stop by your local car wash and vacuum emporium.

4. To thoroughly remove debris from carpets and mats, use a sturdy brush and run a vacuum right behind it. Don’t get too aggressive with the brush. Mats and carpets are (sadly) poorly made these days, even on high-end vehicles. You can easily cause fraying or other damage by using too much force.

Check your tire pressure every month to make sure it’s up to specification, especially before long trips or carrying extra weight. Lower pressure increases heat. Infrared photography of tires tested at high speed. Damaging heat increases as inflation pressure drops. For accuracy, check your inflation pressure with a tire gauge when tires are cold. Driving heats up tires and makes the reading incorrect.

a) Remove tire valve cap.
b) Place the end of the tire gauge over valve.
c) Press the tire gauge straight and firmly until the scale extends.
d) If needed, increase pressure and recheck with the tire gauge.
e) Replace valve cap.

TIRE ROTATION For maximum mileage, rotate your tires according to the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations (consult your vehicle owner’s manual), or if not provided, rotate every 5,000 miles using a rotation pattern such as below (see “Radial Tire Rotation” in this manual). Place a penny in the tire tread grooves as shown. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, the tire is worn out and needs to be replaced. In addition to tire damage, improper inflation pressure may also:

• Adversely affect vehicle ride and handling.
• Reduce tire tread wear.
• Affect fuel economy.

Therefore, follow these important recommendations for tire and vehicle safety, mileage, and economy:

• Always keep the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended inflation pressure in all your tires, including the spare.
• Check their pressure monthly and before long trips or carrying extra weight.

Your vehicle’s tire information placard and/or owner’s manual will tell you the recommended cold inflation pressure for all your tires, including the spare. Examples of placards are shown in Figures 1 and 2. Your placard may look differently and have different tire and loading information than that shown in either of the figures. You must check the driver’s-side door edge or door jamb area for the actual placard that applies to your vehicle. For questions about locating or understanding the tire information placard, consult your vehicle owner’s manual or ask a qualified tire service professional.

Maximum Pressure Indicated on the Tire Sidewall: This is the maximum permissible inflation pressure for the tire only. The vehicle manufacturer’s recommended tire pressures may be lower than, or the same as, the maximum pressure indicated on the tire sidewall. The vehicle manufacturer’s specification of tire pressure is limited to your Aston Martin vehicle and takes into account your vehicle’s load, ride, and handling characteristics, among other criteria. Since there may be several possible vehicle applications for a given tire size, a vehicle manufacturer may choose a different inflation pressure specification for that same size tire on a different vehicle. Therefore, always refer to the inflation pressure specifications on the vehicle tire information placard and/or in your vehicle owner’s manual.

Different Tire Pressures for the Front and Rear Tires: For some vehicles, the recommended front and rear inflation pressures may be different (such as in the example shown in Figure 2). Make sure you take this into account during inflation pressure checks and when rotating tires. Pressure Loss: Tires can lose 1 psi (7 kPa) per month under normal conditions and can lose 1 psi (7 kPa) for every 10°F (5.6°C) temperature drop. A puncture, leaking valve, or other damage could also cause inflation pressure loss. If a tire loses more than 2 psi (14 kPa) per month, have it checked by a qualified tire service professional.

TIPS FOR SAFE TIRE INFLATION Inflating an unsecured tire is dangerous. If it bursts, it could be hurled into the air with explosive force resulting in
serious personal injury or death. Never inflate a tire unless it is secured to the vehicle or a tire mounting machine.

• Check your tire pressures, including your spare tire, monthly and before long trips or carrying extra weight. Be sure to use an accurate pressure gauge.

• Check inflation pressure when the tires are “cold.” Tires are considered “cold” when the vehicle has been parked for three hours or more, or if the vehicle has been driven less than a mile (1.6 km) at moderate speed.
• Never release pressure from a hot tire in order to reach the recommended cold tire pressure. Normal driving causes tires to run hotter and inflation pressure to increase. If you reduce inflation pressure when your tires are hot, you may dangerously under-inflate your tires.
• If it is necessary to adjust inflation pressure when your tires are “hot,” set their pressure to 4 psi (28 kPa) above the recommended cold inflation pressure. Recheck the inflation pressure when the tires are cold.
• If your tires lose more than 2 psi (14 kPa) per month, the tire, the valve, or wheel may be damaged. Consult a qualified tire service professional for an inspection.
• Use valve caps to keep the valves clear of debris and to help guard against inflation pressure loss.

Evaluation and maintenance of your tires is important to their performance and the service they provide to you. Over time and/or through use, the condition of a tire can change from exposure to everyday road conditions, the environment, damaging events such as punctures, and other external factors. You should visually inspect your tires on a regular basis throughout their life, and you should have your tires periodically evaluated by a qualified tire service professional when your vehicle is serviced such as routine maintenance intervals, oil changes, and tire rotations. In particular, note the following tips for spotting tire damage:

• After striking anything unusual in the roadway, have a qualified tire service professional demount the tire and inspect it for damage. A damaged tire may not show any visible signs of harm. Yet, the tire may suddenly fail without warning, a day, a week, or even months later.
• Inspect your tires for cuts, cracks, splits or bruises in the tread and sidewall areas. Bumps or bulges may indicate a separation within the tire body. If you see damage or unusual condition, have your tire inspected by a qualified tire service professional. It may be necessary to have it
removed from the wheel for a complete inspection.
• Inspect your tires for adequate tread depth. When the tire is worn to the built-in indicators at 2/32 inch (1.6 mm) or less tread groove depth, or the tire cord or fabric is exposed, the tire is dangerously worn and must be replaced immediately.
• Inspect your tires for uneven wear. Wear on one side of the tread or flat spots in the tread may indicate a problem with the tire or vehicle. Consult a qualified tire service professional.
• Inspect your wheels also. If you have a bent or cracked wheel, it must be replaced.
• Don’t forget to check the spare tire.

1.) In order to remover the factory turn signals and install ours, you will need to remove the entire upper fairing.
2.) Remove the original turn signals from the upper fairing. You can cut the connector off the factory turn signals and splice it into the G.C. turn signals. Simply place the G.C. signals into the spot on the fairing left vacant by the factory signals. The wires will go through the large hole in the fairing and the screw will attach through the small hole.

DO NOT PUSH ON THE AMBER BULB, PUSH ONLY ON THE LIGHT HOUSING!!!! BE CAREFUL WHEN BENDING OR PULLING ON THE WIRES! THERE IS A
CIRCUIT BOARD ON THE BACK OF THE LED’S AND IT IS FRAGILE!

3.) Use the 3mm screws to clamp the signal into the fairing. The screws install from the backside after the signal has been fully inserted into the recess in the fairing.
4.) The RED wire is positive and the BLACK is negative. The LED’s will not work if they are wired backwards. The CBR wiring uses a 3 wire setup that utilizes a running light. You will only need to use the signal wire and the ground wire. The running light wire will not be used.

To install the 6-speed, a new cross-member must be fabricated. The transmission mount has to be moved to the rear 3.75”, and since the motor and transmission angle down, the mount will have to be .56” lower. Some Muncie and T-10 transmissions have a 10 spline input and 27 spline output. Some have a 26 spline input and 32 spline output. The 6-speed has a 32 spline output, so the drive shaft yoke may need changed. Drive shaft yokes come with various hub lengths. For this application, the hub should be approximately 3” long. When installed, 2” to 2-1/4” of the hub should be in the transmission, which would leave 3/4” to 1” from the hub shoulder to the tailhousing seal. If necessary, cut to the proper length. The hub O.D. should be 1.885/1.886”. Drive shaft length is okay in most instances. The 6-speed uses the same bell-housing, flywheel, pilot bearing, throw-out bearing and pressure plate as the Muncie or T-10. The 6-speed can be supplied with 10 or 26 spline input. If using a high torque motor or going to change the clutch anyway, use the 26 spline clutch, because the 26 fine splines are not cut as deep into the shaft as the 10 spline, which makes the 26 spline input 40 percent stronger. Muncie or T-10 speedometer parts and rubber transmission mount may be reused or new parts are available from Chevrolet.

To install the 6-speed, the transmission mount must be moved to the rear 3.75”. This has been accomplished by several methods. Some cross-members have a removable center extension that can be removed and re-fabricated. Some extensions are welded in and have to be cut out and re-fabricated. Another method commonly used is to cut the center section out of the cross-member and weld end plates with bolt holes on each end, then fabricate a removable center section. This way the motor does not have to be pulled to install or remove the transmission. Some have also cut out the complete cross- member and made a frame to frame bolt-in crossmember. On some of the Corvettes, a pulley for the emergency brake cable needs to be relocated. When relocating the transmission mount, check the driveline angle in the car. If the mount is too high, the transmission will hit the car floor pan, and it will change the drive shaft angle, which could cause a vibration. Some Muncie and T-10 transmissions have a 10 spline input and 27 spline output. Some have a 26 spline input and 32 spline output. The 6-speed has a 32 spline output, so you may have to change the drive shaft yoke. For a Corvette, the yoke has to be open end. The hub on this yoke may be too long for the Richmond 6-speed. The hub length on this yoke should be cut to approximately 3” long. When installed, 2” to 2-1/4” of the hub should be in the transmission, which would leave 3/4” to 1” from the hub shoulder to the tail-housing seal. In most instances, the drive shaft length is close enough to meet these dimensions. The 6-speed uses the same bell-housing, flywheel, pilot bearing, throw-out bearing and pressure plate as the T-10 or Muncie. The 6-speed can be supplied with a 10 or 26 spline input. If using a high torque motor or going to change the clutch anyway, use the 26 spline clutch, because the 26 fine splines are not cut as deep into the shaft as the 10 splines, which makes the 26 spline input 40 percent stronger. T-10 or Muncie rubber transmission mount and speedometer parts may be reused or new parts are available from Chevrolet. The shifter will be approximately 1” to the rear of the current location and may have to be cut 1” from the backside of the shifter hole under the console, but the shifter will fit the console with no modification to the console.

To install the 5-speed, a new cross-member must be fabricated. The transmission mount has to be moved to the rear 2.25”, and since the motor and transmission angle down, the mount will have to be .38” lower. Some Muncie and T-10 transmissions have a 10 spline input and 27 spline output. Some have a 26 spline input and 32 spline output. The 5-speed has a 32 spline output, so change the drive shaft yoke may need changed. Drive shaft yokes come with various hub lengths. For this application, the hub should be approximately 4” long. When installed, 3” to 3-1/4” of the hub should be in the transmission, which would leave 3/4” to 1” from the hub shoulder to the tailhousing seal. If necessary, cut to the proper length. The hub O.D. should be 1.885/1.886”. Drive shaft length is okay in most instances. The 5-speed uses the same bell-housing, flywheel, pilot bearing, throw-out bearing and pressure plate as the Muncie or T-10. The 5-speed can be supplied with 10 or 26 spline input. If using a high torque motor or going to change the clutch anyway, use the 26 spline clutch, because the 26 fine splines are not cut as deep into the shaft as the 10 spline, which makes the 26 spline input 40 percent stronger.
