Our Hummer system is constructed much like all of our IFS systems with extended steering knuckles and high clearance crossmembers but the differences stop there. To properly address the H2’s fulltime transfer case we include a CV style front driveshaft with this system to provide smooth driveline operation. Also unique to this system is two 1/4” thick skid plates, one for the front differential and one for the transfer case. Rear lift on factory air bag H2’s comes from a super stout bag spacer while coil spring models receive replacement coil springs that are driver and passenger specific.

Steering Stabilizer Obtain increased steering control and reduce front end shimmy from oversized tires and wheels with our Steering Stabilizer kit. Easy fit, heavy duty bracketry allows for quick installation.

Tie Rods Extra large diameter replacement Tie Rod assemblies resist bending and breakage when running large tires offroad. Directly replaces OE units and attaches to the stock centerlink, with Fabtech suspension.

Multiple Front Shocks Increase the dampening capacity of your vehicle with the addition of multiple shocks to the front suspension. The tubular Multiple Shock hoops bolt to the frame and do not require cutting of the inner fenderwell, keeping mud and water away from the motor.

Performance System
Our Performance system includes our Dirt Logic 2.5 Coilover shocks, providing incredible suspension dampening capacity for offroad use with a good highway ride. High arched lower control arm crossmembers with extended length ductile iron steering knuckles provides superior strength and longevity. The lower control arm crossmembers also utilize eccentric cams for easy alignment and the factory Rack and Pinion steering does not need to be relocated for installation. This system includes a 1/4” thick differential Skid Plate, Sway Bar links, Impact struts, and more.

The 6” Basic system features our proven IFS technology with extended length steering knuckles that allow the factory upper control arms to be retained in the stock location while relocating the lower control arms. The lower arms are secured to the frame with our legendary arched crossmembers for superior ground clearance with solid 1/4” thick plate construction for unsurpassed strength. Lift is accomplished via a steel coilover shock spacer system retaining the stock ride characteristics of the vehicle. The Rack and Pinion remains in the factory location increasing installation time. Also included in this system is a 1/4” thick differential skid plate and Impact struts. Rear lift is accomplished with a Block and U bolt system.

Our Tundra systems feature extended length ductile steering knuckles that have been designed to operate within the factory steering geometry. This geometry provides proper turning radius with oversized tires and wheels. The factory lower control arms are relocated with high arched 1/4” thick steel crossmembers with an integrated differential skid plate for protection against offroad obstacles. The factory front sway bar is retained and utilizes extended length link ends. The Basic system features a heavy duty shock spacer system that retains the stock coilover shocks without disassembly for a factory like ride. The Performance system includes our Dirt Logic 2.5 Coilover shocks for aggressive offroad use with a good highway ride

Step 1 Remove the driver’s side hood cover by prying upward with both hands.
Step 2 Remove the driver’s side windshield molding. Do not peel off the rubber seal or separate from roof molding.
Step 3 Remove 4 screws from driver’s side roof railing. Remove roof and windshield molding and set it down on the table.
Step 4 Measure 1” from the beginning of the roof railing and mark on the masking tape the spot to drill ½” hole for your harness.
Step 5 Install relays onto driver’s side engine compartment behind the battery, (See Step 6)
Step 6 Ground two short black wires leading from relays to screws holding the relays. Run yellow wires towards the corner of engine compartment.
Step 7 Run blue switch wire through the existing rubber grommet in the fire wall next to the relay’s location (Step 6).
Step 8 Pull both fuses out of fuse holders to protect from falsely activating the harness.
Step 9 Connect both red wires leading from relays to the battery’s positive terminal.
Step 10 Run both yellow wires with black wire alongside the windshield and up to the roof. Use electric tape to help hold down your wires.
Step 11 Continue with yellow and black wires on the roof. Set down the roof molding placing the wires in the molding cradle. Bolt the
molding down to the roof.
Step 12 Place left post of light bar inside roof railing. Mark 4” from beginning. Connect blind side of red wire to any hot wire under dash board.

Slide Housing Bracket over bolt at #12 hole location (Photo 3), keeping the bracket between the cargo management rail and lock washer (Diagram 4). Fully tighten and repeat for the other side. Place the small Rubber Gasket (Photo 5) provided between the Housing Bracket and the bed rail (Diagram 6). Note: Place the notched end of the gasket on the bulkhead. Repeat for the other side. Place the Bulkhead Flange over the bulkhead rail (Photo 7). Insert the black plastic push pins to secure the flange (Photo 8).

Carefully place the Tracks on the bedrails (Photo 12) and key them onto the Housing Stems (Diagram 13), being sure that the Handle is properly engaged into the Tracks. D. Slide the slots in the Track Brackets over the corresponding bolts on the cargo management rail system (Photo 14), making sure to keep the brackets between the bolt head and the cargo management rail. Use #10-24 x 1/2″ truss head screws and cargo nuts to secure the Tracks to the Housing Stems (Photo 15).Carefully close the tailgate. Push down on the Track (Photo 16) so the Track Gasket makes good contact with the top of the bedrail. There should be a slight gap between the Track End Cap and the top of tailgate, so the bottom of the Track End Cap does not rub on the top of the tailgate. Fully tighten the 1/4-20 x 3/4″ bolts (Photo 16).

With the Tracks installed and the tailgate closed, position the Tailgate Extrusionbetween the Tracks Photo 19(Photo 19). This should be a snug fit. While holding the Tailgate Extrusion in place, use a #8 x 3/4″ self tapping screw and power screw gun to secure the center hole (Photo 20).
B. Install the remaining self-tapping screws (only 5 needed), making sure to provide even spacing between them. The Tailgate Extrusion should sit snug on top of the tailgate with no gaps.

Before lowering the Housing Lid, turn the Lid Pin Knobs 1/4 turn clock-wise, which will cause the pins to pop in if they are not already in. Lower the Housing Lid, being sure that the Lid Pins snap into the receptors located on the Tracks. To open the Cover, pull back slightly on the Handle to relieve spring tension from the Latch Mechanisms and turn the Lock Lever clockwise to the 10 o’clock position. Use 1/4 – 20 x 1/2″ truss head screws and rubber washers to secure the Cargo Shield (Diagram 25). Note: The rubber washers go on the inside of the Cargo Shield. Use a 1/2″ drill bit to drill holes for the Drain Tubes (this process is easier if a 1/4″ pilot hole is drilled first). Align the holes with the Drain Tubes fittings (Photo 26). The Drain Tubes made need to be cut to size. G. Make sure the Pull-Strap is securely clipped to a fixed point in the bed.

This month you will receive two Cheap Tricks for the price of one! Although the pictures are of parts of a Hummer H1, this article applies equally to all vehicles with side-terminal batteries.

Picture 1 – Battery Terminal with Cover First, a little background about battery terminals and Hummers. The stock Hummer battery has side terminals. The cables are designed to “piggyback” as necessary to connect to both batteries. The late-model Hummer winch wiring harness contains these same “piggy-back” cable connections. Low-current accessories for the Hummer should be wired to one of the convenient power junctions under the hood or under the dash. This includes anything under about 60 Amps. Low-current accessories should not be attached directly to the batteries. What accessories draw more than 60 Amps? Winches and power inverters, mostly. Such high-current accessories should be connected either to the battery terminals, or (if practical) to the large studs on the starter motor.

Picture 2 – Side Terminal Cable Battery power is transferred from the battery to the cable not through the screw, but through the flat surfaces of the battery terminal and the cable connection. These surfaces must be clean and tightly pressed together in order for full power to be conducted.
Picture 3 – Battery Terminal Picture 1 shows the Hummer / H1 battery terminal with the cover in place. This cover helps keep the connection clean and prevent corrosion. Picture 2 shows the connector with the cover removed. Picture 3 shows a close-up of the battery terminal.

Picture 4 – Terminal Bolt Picture 4 shows one of the cable bolts when removed from the cable connector. Note four characteristics of this bolt: • It has a small head to discourage over tightening • It has a wide shoulder to press the terminal evenly • It has a cone-shaped shoulder (or sometimes a groove) for use with jumper cables • It is designed to strip more easily than the battery terminal Note also that the threads on this bolt are stripped. Read about this in Cheap Trick #1.

Cheap Trick #1: Stripped bolt
Picture 5 – Cable Connector I was checking the batteries in a Hummer and noticed that one of the cables was a little loose. I tried to tighten it up a bit but it came loose completely. It turns out that the threads on the screw were damaged beyond reuse. So I improvised a fix to get the truck back on the road. First, I removed the screw from the battery cable connector. Picture 5 shows this connector without the bolt in place..

Suggested Tools for Installation:
* Jack and proper load rated jackstands
* 21mm combination wrench
* 21mm 1/2” drive socket and ratchet
* Hammer

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Raise vehicle and support with jackstands on a stable surface.
Note: Vehicle must be supported with vehicle’s normal weight on rear axle. Do not support vehicle by its trailing
2. Remove only one of the stock lower trailing arms.
3. Install the Edelbrock lower trailing arms with the spherical ball at the rear axle mounting point and the grease fitting on top of the arm. It may be necessary to spread the rear end mounting tabs slightly to install trailing arm.
4. Re-install stock trailing arm bolts and torque bolts to 140 ft. lbs.
5. After one side has been completed, repeat steps 2, 3, & 4 on other side of vehicle.
6. Edelbrock trailing arms are greased during assembly, but we recommend you grease them after installation and
NOTE: To lube the spherical ball end of the trailing arm, the vehicle’s full weight must be on all four tires. This will allow you to grease the zerk fitting that is located on the top rear of the arm. If the suspension is hanging, you will not be able to access the zerk fitting. To lube the front trailling arm bushing, you will need to remove the plastic cover at the front of the trailing arm. Re-install plastic cover after lubing.

Step 1: Lock gunner turret ring.
Step 2: Open and secure gunner hatch.
Step 3: Remove existing gunner sling.
Step 4: Remove bolt securing existing gunner sling-hook bracket from turret using 9/16” (14mm) ratcheting closed-end wrench (a.k.a. gear wrench) (save his bolt as it will be used for installation of the Turret Bracket hook side (p/n: 901-US-07301-3 (discard the bolt that comes with the kit)).Existing Gunner Sling Hook Bracket (photos show two views of same bracket)

Step 5: Remove bolt securing existing gunner sling slotted bracket from turret using 9/16” (14mm) gear wrench (save this bolt as it will be used for installation of Turret Bracket webbing side (p/n: 901-US-07301-4 (discard the bolt that comes with the kit)). Existing slotted gunner sling bracket
Step 6: Install Turret Bracket Kit Assemblies (p/n: 901-US-07301-3 hook side and 901-US-07301-4 webbing side) onto gunner turret with existing bolts removed from steps 4 and 5 using existing gunner sling bracket holes. Use thread-sealing compound (Loctite “blue”) on bolt threads. Center bracket assemblies and hold in position while tightening bolts. (Torque to 26 lb-fta;10%).

Step 7:
1. Ensure webbing slot on sling webbing bracket has no sharp edges or burrs. Use a file and/or coarse sandpaper to smooth sharp edges and burrs from webbing slot.
2. Reinstall existing mesh sling seat.

Step 8:
1. Remove wooden board (loosen A/C evaporator cover so board can be removed).
2. Identify and drill out the five (center) rivets in the area located above the cross member.
3. Using a 12.5mm drill bit, drill out ONLY the center hole of the five where the rivets
4. Nut Fastener in the 12.5mm hole from step 3.
5. Position the adaptor plate on the floor and secure with 3/8-16×2” counter-sink bolt, using the center hole in plate to the rivet-nut installed in step 4. NOTE: the adaptor plate shall be mounted on top of and in line with the B-beam.
6. The remaining four (4) rivet-nuts shall be installed one at a time to make sure that the pre-drilled counter-sink holes on the adaptor plate properly line up. This is to be accomplished by first mounting the plate; drilling ONLY ONE of the holes through the B- beam with a 12.5mm drill bit using the plate as a drill template and then removing the plate to install that rivet-nut. The plate is to be re-installed with a 3/8-16×2” counter-sink bolt in each of the rivet-nut been installed at that time and selecting another of the holes to drill out. This process will be repeated until the remaining four (4) rivet-nuts are installed; each time removing and replacing the plate (in any sequence).
7. Mark the position of the plate on the vehicle floor so that the markings may be transferred to the wooden board. Place wooden board into position; install a few Transfer markings from vehicle floor to wooden board and remove board accordingly. Cut wooden board and discard center section. Place 7/16” x .363” long spacers (qty 5) over each of the rivet-nuts. Place wooden board into position and screw down board with existing screws. Secure the edge of the wooden board, alongside the adaptor plate where the upper ribbed floor meets the underside of the wooden board, using three (3) self-tapping screws on each side.
