Hybrid cars are bought by two groups of customers. The first consists of idealists who want to save the world by driving an environmentally-friendly vehicle. The second group is made up of business men who mainly want to save their own wallet. Now Honda thinks it has found a third group, because thanks to hybrid drive, the Honda CR-Z Electrifying Hybrid is supposed to offer extra driving pleasure. Is this green sports car actually electrifying?
Inspect the following areas for paint problems (peeling, flaking or, in some cases on the hood and the roof, coming off in sheets):
• Roof (including under the top edge of the tailgate, under the top edge of the sliding doors, and the top panel of the sliding doors)
Before You Start
For the initial setup of the Honda Teradyne GNA600, the latest version of HDS software must be installed on the host PC. We strongly recommend using the USB PC Interface Cable (TDS35525406) as your wired connection to the GNA600. The correct device drivers for the USB PC Interface Cable are included with the HDS software. If an Ethernet cable is used for your wired connection, you will need to do extra steps. NOTE – Setup of the GNA600 connection is fully automatic if you have the correct drivers from the HDS software installed, use the USB PC Interface Cable, and carefully follow the set up instructions. If you use an Ethernet cable, you must do a manual setup of the GNA600 connection (see section 5.4).
Trailer Hitch Installation
1. Open the tailgate.
2. Remove the clip (A) and screw from the rear fender arch molding. Release the seven retaining clips and the two retaining clips (large) of the
rear fender arch molding. Slide the rear fender arch molding outward.
• Insert the shop towel between the rear fender arch molding and the rear fender.
3. Repeat the procedure on the other side.
1. Place the motorcycle on its centerstand on level ground. Remove the four bolts in the seat handles with a 6mm Allen head socket and remove the seat. NOTE: The rubber bushings inside the seat may fall out during removal; Make sure they are in place upon reassembly.
2. Remove both side covers.
3. Remove the (5) five bolts in the rear fender (license plate panel, between saddlebags) with a 5mm Allen head socket. Remove the rear fender. NOTE: The fifth bolt is behind the license plate.
4. Remove the (3) three bolts in the passenger floorboard holder cover with a 5mm Allen head socket. Remove the cover and repeat for other side.
5. Remove the (2) bolts in the rear saddlebag guard with a 12mm socket. Remove the saddlebag guard and repeat for other side.
6. Remove the bolt in the muffler hanger using a 12mm socket. Repeat for other side.
7. Loosen, but do not remove, the muffler clamps using a 6mm Allen head socket. Rotate the mufflers down slightly to allow the hitch hoop to slide between the mufflers and the saddlebags.
Before you start installation
Take some engine bay pictures for later reference. Make a special drawing of all the coolant hoses going to the different parts of the stock intake, you will need this later on. The same goes for the vacuum hoses to the different parts of the intake. Mark the electrical connectors to the MAP sensor and TPS sensor. You will need this later on. Drain the engine coolant.

The automotive journalism gods are sometimes unpredictable. The TL became available and, while it’s been on the street for a bit, we wanted to give it a go so that the enthusiasts of the SCCA could have a private look at this relatively new player in the import sedan wars. Our example was a blue over tan leather model equipped with the Acura Navigation system and the standard, five-speed automatic with “Sportshift.” OK, so this is not a car that makes your pulse quicken – but let’s give it a fair shot. Right off the bat, I’ll give the TL major kudos on its design. It is a very contemporary look, with its proper proportions, sloping rear glass, high deck and dual exhaust. Acura also does a great job of integrating a tasteful aero/ground effects package without any sense of boy racer.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
The HONDA/ACURA IPOD LOCKPICK uses a simple “T” harness for installation using factory connectors so there is no need to cut/splice any wires, or locate power, ground and audio. The interface is truly plug and play. The factory connectors are individually keyed so you cannot plug them into the wrong location.
1. VEHICLES WITH OR WITHOUT A FACTORY XM TUNER PRESENT
• The installation of the HONDA/ACURA LOCKPICK is the same for vehicles with or without a factory XM tuner present. After gaining access to the back of the radio, locate the 14 pin connector which matches the connectors of your IPOD LOCKPICK harness. Unplug the factory 14 pin connector and plug it into the female connector of the LOCKPICK harness. Then plug the male end of the harness into the former factory location
2. PROGRAMMING YOUR INTERFACE
• The HONDA/ACURA IPOD interface is universal in application and requires only a simple switch setting to properly program it to match your vehicle and options. The IPOD LOCKPICK is shipped with all switches in the UP position. If your vehicle is already equipped with a factory XM tuner then place switch 4 in the DOWN position. This will program the LOCKPICK for use while in the presence of an XM tuner and prevent conflict between the components. If you have an XM tuner but are not currently subscribed, still place switch 4 in the DOWN position. All other applications where an XM tuner is not present will leave all interface switches in the UP position. After positioning the programming switch, plug the interface into the harness. This will lock in the setting you have selected. If you have made a mistake and need to change the programming setting, unplug the LOCKPICK module first and then change the switch position. If the interface is not unplugged while changing the programming settings, the new programming will not be performed and improper operation may result.
3. CONNECT THE IPOD HARNESS AND/OR AUX INPUT
• Included with your interface is a cable designed to connect an iPOD/iPHONE to the Lockpick. Plug the cable into the Lockpick and the other end into the bottom of the iPOD/iPHONE. If your iPOD does not have a bottom docking connector, it is not compatible with the LOCKPICK interface. Compatible iPODs include NANO, MINI, 4th and 5th generation iPODs including photo/video. Also available on your LOCKPICK are AUX input jacks which may be connected to any stereo audio and source and played through your factory sound system.
