1. Follow workshop manual instructions to get rid of the camshaft cover and also the timing belt cover.

Re-gain T.D.C. Position and re-check alignment by placing the securing plate using the T.D.C. setting pin in position (see above). If required repeat steps 6 & 7 before proceeding. Take away the securing plate and T.D.C. pin before turning the Ford engine over two times manually to accomplish a complete cycle to make sure that there’s no obstruction.
9. Replace the threaded connect the cylinder block and follow workshop manual instructions to refit the camshaft cover and also the timing belt covers, etc.

1.8 Diesel Engine – 4 cylinder 1753cc OHC
1. Follow workshop manual methods to get rid of the timing belt covers. Take away the threaded plug for that crankshaft timing pin in the cylinder block and turn the engine before the slot within the injection pump lever reaches about 11 o’clock.
2. Screw the T.D.C. Setting Pin in to the cylinder block and turn the crankshaft until it rests from the setting pin at T.D.C. 2.5DI Diesel Engine – 4 Cylinder 2496cc OHV Direct Injection.
1. Follow workshop manual methods to get rid of the timing belt covers. Take away the blanking plug for that crankshaft timing pin in the the cylinder block. Turn the engine within the normal direction of rotation before the Setting Pin ‘A’ could be placed in to the flywheel. Make sure that pin ‘C’ and pin ‘D’ could be placed within the camshaft and injection pump sprockets correspondingly.
2. To get rid of the timing belt, slacken the tensioner bolts and lever the tensioner from the belt. When the timing belt will be re-used, mark the
direction of rotation with chalk to make sure correct re-fitting.
3. Make sure that the 3 timing hooks are properly situated which the belt tensioner is held back from the spring using the clamping bolt. Make Reference To WORKSHOP MANUAL FOR DETAILED BELT FITTING AND TENSIONING Methods.
4. Remove all hooks, and turn engine over two times manually to accomplish a complete cycle. Re-gain timing position and re-check alignment by placing the appropriate hooks. When the hooks don’t all fit properly repeat step three before proceeding. Remove all hooks and turn engine over two times manually to accomplish a complete cycle to make sure that there’s no obstruction/
5. Replace blanking connect the cylinder block and follow workshop manual methods to re-fit belt covers, etc.

Before You Buy If you are selecting a vehicle that will be used for towing, you should determine the approximate weight of the trailer you intend to tow, including the weight of any additional cargo and fluids that you will be carrying in the trailer. Also be sure the vehicle has the proper optional equipment. Keep in mind that performance can be severely compromised in hilly terrain when minimum acceptable powertrain combination is selected. Consider purchasing a vehicle with a more powerful engine.

After You Buy Before heading out on a trip, check your vehicle’s Owner Guide for break-in and severe-duty maintenance schedules (do not tow a trailer until your vehicle has been driven at least 500 miles). Be sure to have your fully-loaded vehicle (including passengers) and trailer weighed so as not to exceed critical weight limits. If any of these limits are exceeded, cargo should be removed from the vehicle and/or trailer until all weights are within the specified limits.

BRAKES Many states require a separate braking system on trailers with a loaded weight of more than 1,500 pounds. For your safety, Ford Taurus Company recommends that a separate functional brake system be used on any towed vehicle, including those dolly-towed or towbar-towed. There are several basic types of brake systems designed to activate trailer brakes:
1. Electronically Controlled Brakes usually provide automatic and manual control of Ford trailer brakes. They require that the tow vehicle be equipped with a controlling device and additional wiring for electrical power. These brakes typically have a control box installed within reach of the driver and can be applied manually or automatically.
2. Electric-Over-Hydraulic (EOH) Trailer Brakes are operated by an electrically powered pump that pressurizes a hydraulic fluid reservoir built into the trailer’s brake system. Many of the available EOH trailer brake models are compatible with Ford’s factory installed, dash-integrated Trailer Brake Controller (TBC).
3. Surge Brakes are independent hydraulic brakes activated by a master cylinder at the junction of the hitch and trailer tongue. They are not controlled by the hydraulic fluid in the tow vehicle’s brake system, and the tow vehicle’s hydraulic system should never be connected directly to the trailer’s hydraulic system.

TRAILER LAMPS Make sure the trailer is equipped with lights that conform to all applicable government regulations. The trailer lighting system should not be connected directly to the lighting system of the vehicle. See a local recreational vehicle dealer or rental trailer agency for correct
wiring and relays for the trailer and heavy-duty flashers.

SAFETY CHAINS • Always use safety chains when towing. Safety chains are used to retain connection between the towing and towed vehicle in the event of separation of the trailer coupling or ball • Use cross chains under the trailer tongue to prevent the tongue from contacting the ground if a separation occurs. Allow only enough slack to permit full turning – be sure they do not drag on the pavement • When using a frame-mounted trailer hitch, attach the safety chains to the frame-mounted hitch using the recommendations supplied by the hitch manufacturer

Original Exhaust System Removal. Note: With a used vehicle, we suggest a penetrating spray lubricant to be applied liberally to all exhaust fasteners and allowing a significant period of time for the chemical to lubricate the threads before attempting to disassemble.
1. Loosen the clamps shown in figure 1 located just behind the H- pipe.
2. Loosen the clamps shown in figure 2 located just in front of each muffler assembly.
3. Beginning with the left (driver) side, using a flat blade screwdriver, pull the clip as shown in figure 3 to disengage it from the pipe.
4. Remove the left (driver) side over axle pipe shown in figure 4 by removing the front of the pipe first then sliding it out of the muffler assembly.
5. Remove the factory clamp for use during the installation of your new exhaust system.
6. Repeat steps 3 thru 5 for the removal of the right side over axle pipe.
7. Lubricate hangers and rubber isolators.
8. On left (driver) side muffler assembly, remove the hangers from the rubber isolators and remove the muffler from the vehicle. (See Fig 5)
9. Repeat step 7 for the removal of the right (passenger) side muffler assembly.

Borla Performance Cat-Back – Exhaust System Installation
1. Place a clamp over the expanded end of the R/H Over Axle Pipe and insert end of Front Pipe. Lightly tighten clamp. Repeat for L/H side. **PLEASE REFER TO DRAWING ON PAGE 2**
2. Place a clamp over the expanded end of the left (driver) side muffler assembly and set it up into position installing the hangers into the rubber isolators. (See Fig. 6)
3. Repeat step 2 for the installation of the right (passenger) side muffler assembly.
4. Place the original clamp over the expanded end of left (driver) side over axle pipe and set it into position by first installing the rear portion into the muffler assembly. (See Fig. 7)
5. Repeat step 4 for the installation of the right (passenger) side over axle pipe.
6. Check your exhaust system for proper clearance under the vehicle and also for tip alignment. (See Fig.
7. Once position has been determined to be correct, tighten the Accuseal™ clamps to 32-35 ft. lbs.
Before starting your vehicle, make sure to check all wires, hoses, brake lines, body parts and tires for safe clearance from the exhaust system.
8. Start vehicle and check for any leaks. If any leaks are found, determine cause (such as loose or incorrectly positioned clamp) and repair as necessary…

Fuel is drawn through the Main System (Figure 3) by the pressure-drop that occurs when the incoming air flow must increase in velocity in order to pass the reduced throat areas at the Main Venturi (1) and the Boost Venturi (2). This pressure-drop (or suction) is communicated to the system by the Nozzle (3)-a brass tube that opens into the inside of the Booster Venturi (2).

The fuel must pass through the restriction at the Main Jet (4) and Metering Rod (5). The Rod extends through the Jet, reducing the amount of area available for fuel flow. If the diameter of the Rod is large, then fuel flow through the Jet is more restricted than if the Rod were small. After the Rod and Jet, the fuel enters the Primary Well and is drawn up the inside of the Primary Well Tube (6). Sometimes this tube is called an Emulsion Tube. Here, the fuel is mixed with air that enters the inside of the Tube through a series of small holes. The air is supplied by the Main Well Bleed (7) at the top of the Main Well. The air/fuel mixture exits from the top of the Main Well into a passage that leads it to discharge into the Booster Venturi (2) at the Nozzle (3).

The fuel flow rate in the Main System is proportional to the air flow rate; as air flow increases – from either an increase in throttle opening or an increase in engine speed at the same throttle opening – the fuel flow also increases by nearly the same degree. At higher engine loads, such as in a heavy part-throttle acceleration, there is a need for a richer mixture. This enrichment is provided by the Metering Rod and Step-Up Function (Figure 4). A vacuum passage (8) communicates the manifold vacuum to the underside of the Step-Up Piston (9). This vacuum tries to hold the Piston in the bottom of its bore by working against the force of the Step-Up Spring (10).

When the manifold vacuum is high, indicating a low load such as idle, cruise, or light acceleration, it is able to overcome the force of the Step-Up Spring and hold the Step-Up Piston at the bottom of its bore, which also positions the Metering Rod at the bottom of its travel. At this point, the Rod has a large diameter that creates a high restriction through the Jet and the fairly lean A/F Ratio that is desirable for low load/low power operation. This portion of the Metering Rod is referred to as the “Lean Step” of the Rod.

To help you calibrate your carburetor, a CALIBRATION REFERENCE CHART has been designed for each model of the Edelbrock Performer Series carburetor. These charts (pages 10-19) each consist of two sections: A Calibration Table and a Rod/Jet Reference Chart. After reading the Calibration procedures, the next step in calibrating your carburetor is to look at the Calibration Table for your model carburetor. Determine if you would like to go richer or leaner in the Cruise Mode and do the same for the Power Mode. Select the number that is closest to intersection of your Cruise and Power Mode selections. This is your calibration reference number. Locate your calibration reference number to determine the rod/jet combination for your application.

You have determined (by reading the rest of the manual) you would like to go 1 stage lean in the Cruise Mode and 2 stages lean in the Power Mode. The intersection of these two lines lies on the number 21. This is your calibration reference number. Now look below the Calibration Table to the Rod/Jet Reference Chart. Find the number 21 under the REF# column. The jets you should use are .098 and the rods are .070 x .052. Located at the very bottom of each Calibration Reference Chart is a guide for changing your Secondary Metering. This will be useful when calibrating the wide-open-throttle (WOT).

Before you attempt to establish a new calibration, be sure that the engine is in a sound state of tune. All ignition items must be in proper working order, including reasonably fresh plugs of the correct heat range. Timing should be properly set and the air filter element and fuel filter should be clean. Proper fuel pressure should be verified and cracked or brittle vacuum lines should be eliminated. Many so-called “carburetor calibration” problems have been traced to another part of the engine system that was not functioning properly.

Ford Crown Victory since 2008 is produced for the North American market with dual-exhaust and have been officially discontinued by Ford. Due to maintenance purpose relates with Mounted Sensor – following are the instructions steps to apply:

1. Make sure all tires are inflated to the vehicle’s recommended inflation pressures (found in the owner’s manual on the door placard).
2. Turn the ignition switch to OFF then press and release the brake pedal.
3. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN (engine OFF) 3 times, ending in the RUN position. Do this within 10 seconds.
4. Press and release the brake pedal.
5. Turn the ignition switch back to OFF.
6. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN (engine OFF) 3 times, ending in the RUN position. Do this within 10 seconds.
7. The horn should sound letting you know the vehicle has entered into TPMS relearn mode
8. Place the VT10’s antenna on the sidewall of the driver’s side front tire 180 degrees from the valve stem.
9. Hold the left button of the VT10 triggering tool for 5-10 seconds. The vehicle’s horn will sound letting you know the sensor has been learned.
10. Once the horn sounds, move on to the passenger side front tire and repeat the process. Each tire should only take 30 seconds.
11. After the passenger side front tire has been learned, continue on to the passenger side rear tire and finishing with the driver’s side rear tire.
12. You may now turn the ignition to OFF. If the horn does not sound, the sensors were learned successfully. If the horn sounds twice, then the process must be repeated because there as a malfunction.
