The Nustrini family ownership of various Fiat 500s over the years is a tale in itself, with Giovanni and his siblings engaging in hand-me-downs and purchases of Bambinas for a very long time. Even now there are a few still floating around in the family, as Giovanni’s sister also has a 500 that she uses regularly.

Conception and Revision With the little Fiat attracting such a vast following it comes as no surprise that for many, the 500 was seen more as a part of the family than a mere conveyance. As such, the 500 was known by several different names around the world – which included Bambina, a name originally coined by the New Zealand Fiat distributors in New Zealand. Oddly enough, in Australia the masculine form ‘bambino’ was used. The Cinquecento label – as used in Italy – spread through the rest of Europe and stuck in the UK, where it is still known as such.

The original Nuova 500 was the first model available in 1957, and featured a 479cc engine which produced a heady 9.7kW (13bhp). It had a full-length folding roof that went all the way to the back of the vehicle in addition to rear-hinged suicide doors. Initial sales of the Nuova were sluggish, so Fiat upped the power of the two-cylinder unit to 11kW (15bhp), which helped start the little 500 on its way to global success. Furthermore, by taking the concept of downsizing to the extreme and masterfully tuning the basic mechanics, the new family – delivering from 65 to 105 HP – emits 30% less CO2 than an engine of equal performance.

Significantly the new TwinAir 85 HP two-cylinder engine will complement the many technological solutions already adopted by the Fiat 500 to contain consumption and emissions as demonstrated by the recent expansion of the engine range, now featuring a second-generation 1.3 MultiJet delivering power of up to 95 HP. With 8 injections per cycle, the 1.3 MultiJet II improves low rpm torque delivery by up to 38% and cuts CO2 emissions by 6%. Again with a focus on environmental protection, the Fiat 500 (saloon and cabrio) is available with Start&Stop, the system which temporarily stops the engine and starts it again when the car is stationary with the engine idling: this reduces urban cycle average consumption by up to 12%. The principles of the Fiat 500 range are also implemented in eco:Drive, innovative software for analysing driving behaviour and helping motorists optimise consumptions and emissions by using the USB port of the Blue&Me system.

The new Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari builds on a recent partnership deal that saw Fiat 500 Abarth distributed to Ferrari dealerships as courtesy cars. This is not a cynical cash grab badging exercise but rather a well thought out package that honours the two illustrious names and brings a piece of Ferrari pa- nache to the practical end of the market …. and a fun shopping cart for those already with a Scuderia in their garage. Fiat delivers a highly uprated 1.4 Turbo T-Jet 16v that has been tuned by Abarth to deliver over 180 HP.

A major component of this tuning is the “Record Monza” variable back-pressure “dual mode” exhaust, which also gives the added bonus of new aural pleasures over 3,000 rpm.. This desirable little package has been coupled to an MTA (Manual Transmission Automated) electrome- chanical gearbox with paddle gearshift. 17’’ alloy wheels featuring a design inspired by Ferrari wheels assist with the acceleration while nicely filling those wheel arches and giving the 500 a more purposeful look. Behind them sits Brembo 284 mm multi-section discs with fixed four-piston calipers. Suspen- sion has been upgraded with special shock absorbers.. Magneti Marelli Automotive Lighting provide the Xenon headlights with dipped and main beam functions. The interior gets a considerable work- over with “Abarth Corsa by Sabelt” seats finished in black leather with the shell and seat base in carbon fibre.

These seats are 10 kg lighter than the standard units and provide superior lateral and longitudinal support. The steering wheel is black leather and features red leather inserts and a tricolour hub on which the MTA gearshift paddles are mounted. The instrument panel is specially made by Jaeger, and inspired by typical Ferrari instrumentation. There is also a plate bearing the vehicle series number. The final piece that screams Ferrari at you is the Scuderia Red with Rac- ing Grey stripes finish from the 430 Scuderia and with carbon fibre door mir- rors and rear air intakes in Racing Grey. It makes the Toyota iQ-based Aston Martin Cygnet look like a Toyota iQ with a squashed Aston nose ….. stupid.

To check the voltage in electric cables, use only a diode test lamp, voltmeter or scope. Test lamps, which light up, take too much current and the vehicle electronics may be damaged

Electronic interface module AP800:
The electronic module should always be mounted in the passenger compartment of the car, near the accelerator pedal with the 4mm sheet metal screws. Avoid places with excessive heat, dampness and high-tension leads. The most common mounting locations are under the dashboard on the driver’s side, behind the glove compartment or the drivers- or passenger-side kick panels. Do not mount the electronic module in the engine compartment. For mounting, mark holes, center punch and drill the 3mm holes or use the double-sided pad to stick the electronic module to a flat surface. Always check the other side for clearance before drilling. Temporarily install the electronic module in the selected position. DO NOT firmly screw the electronic module down unless you have easy access to the electronic module. Once the installation has been finished, the electronic module can be screwed down in the selected position.

Kit contents:
• T-harness
• Black-red power wire
Connect the Black-Red wire to a constant 12V power supply (insert 2A fuse in fuse holder)

Disconnect car battery
• Connect the black-red wire to constant +12V (30)
• Insert 2A fuse in fuse holder
• Disconnect connector A (4-pole) from potentiometer (fig.1).
• Solder the green wire on wire position 2 from the connector
• potentiometer (fig.2) Solder the gray wire add wire position 4 from the connector
• potentiometer (fig.2) Cut the wire from position 3 of the potentiometer connector. Solder

The car will be available in two trim levels– Lounge and Sport and will be powered by the 1.3 multijet engine capable of generating 75bhp of power.

The car will be equipped with “Blue & Me” the voice activated in-car communication system and infotainment. Fiat 500 will be available through the imported CBU (completely built unit) route and the company will facilitate the import of the car to the customer. Fiat has also made the provision of customizing the car to ensure the exclusivity of every Fiat 500. The launch of the 500 is the ideal pre-cursor to the introduction of the other much-awaited Fiat cars such as Bravo, Linea and the Grande Punto in the Indian market.

1. The digital control can be located inside or outside the shower area. Position the touch pad 4 to 6 feet from the floor inside or outside the steam room. Drill one 1-1/16” hole in the wall.

2. Bring the control wire from the generator through the 1-1/16” hole. Carefully connect the wire to the pigtail of the control using the supplied coupler. DO NOT pinch, nail, wedge etc. the control cable, any damage to the control cable will result in the control not working properly. If the control is not installed immediately, protect the end connectors with some type of shielding material.
3. Carefully connect the other end of the lead wire to the generator BEFORE turning power on to the generator.
4. Turn on both water and power to the generator.
5. Test the touch pad to ensure it is properly connected. If any technical problems arise, call toll free 800-585-7832.
6. THESE STEPS MUST BE TAKEN OR YOUR WARRANTY WILL BE VOID. Coat the entire control back with supplied waterproof silicone. Completely seal the control to the wall so moisture does not get behind it. Place the control on the wall pressing firmly. You may need to tape the control into place until the silicone dries. Be careful not to harm the wall/control with the tape. Refer to figure 4. Let dry for 24 hours before using steam bath.
Failure to follow installation instructions specifically may cause the warranty to be void!
