Remove the Lower inner door panel and (if needed) remove the speaker. This picture is from a 1990 348 TS. Many Ferraris of this era have door panels that are made of several pieces. You will only need to remove as many of these panels as needed to get to the window harness wires. On my 348 you need to pull the bottom panel straight out on the bottom of the panel to get the plastic fastener out of the door. I will cover replacement fasteners later. Locate the wires that go to the electric windows. On my 348 these are yellow and blue. These wires may be in a black protective sheathing. You may need to cut the sheathing some to expose these wires.
Tools and equipment needed to complete the work.
Allen Key Set
Philips head screwdriver
Step 1- The door panel is held by 6 allen screws that are located in the front of the panel and held by 4 more allen screws that are hidden. Start by removing 4 small allen screws, two are located underneath the panel and are clearly visible and 2 more are located underneath the door panel/window seal. Remove all screws as per pictures below.
Section I : Installing the PhatBox
Mounting the PhatBox When choosing a mounting location remember: Leave at least 3 inches of clearance for the cable. The PhatBox should be mounted parallel or perpendicular to the floor of the car. Don’t mount near wiring or fuel lines. Leave the front of the PhatBox unobstructed for easy insertion of and removal of the cartridge. The unit should be mounted to a hard stable surface, such as particle board or sheet metal.
