The optimum time to determine the engine oil level is all about 5 minutes following a fully warmed engine is turn off. Don’t check oil level before beginning the engine after it’s sitting overnight. Checking Chrysler engine oil level once the engine is cold provides you with an incorrect reading through.
The AMC 20 sports 12 bolts and a WWI helmet-shaped cover. It’s ring and pinion is 3/8” larger than the D44, but uses smaller shafts and smaller axle tubes, which tend to flex more and lead to breakage. Two versions, narrow track and wide track, were used in 1976-and-later Jeep CJ’s, Wagoneers, and fullsize Cherokees. Jeep CJs, the Model 20 rear end is both strong and weak.
TRANSTEC rebuild kits for Chrysler 41TE (A-604) now includes low / reverse piston housing. These houses are made of pressed steel and are sensitive to distortions, especially around the screw holes. Therefore, the house always replaced during a rebuild. ATRA is recommended using a new home in their last Technical Bulletin # 231st.
This standard supersedes previous requirements described in Chrysler 200 Materials Standards MS-6784 and MS-3297; Sealer and Catalyst-Porous Castings and Powder Metal Parts, Organic Type, Anaerobic and Aerobic, respectively. In addition to providing a uniform method for evaluating the effectiveness of the material in sealing porosity, the standard defines requirements for determining the solvent and temperature resistance of the cured sealants.
The Problem Several OE Chrysler fuel pump modules feature a paper strainer/filter element. An Airtex design change to this element results in a fuel pump that looks significantly different from the original fuel pump.
The Solution The Airtex pump features a dual-zone strainer/filtration design to provide better trapping of fuel system contaminates. In order to improve filtration of fuel entering the fuel pump, Airtex uses a media-material fuel pump filter/strainer. To better filter fuel going to the fuel injectors, the Airtex pump relocates the paper filter into the regulator assembly.
For exposed underhood wiring, teflon insulated wire with its associated high temperature capability is recommended. Additional connectors, and hardware, that is not included with this unit may also be needed. As the mounting configuration will vary significantly from vehicle to vehicle, hardware to mount the tachometer to the vehicle is not included. Whether you use self tapping or a machine screw and nut configuration, # 8 hardware including flat and lockwashers is recommended.
Permanent Removal of Dust Shield The dust shield must be permanently removed from both front wheels of the vehicle, to accommodate the AeroRotors. This involves cutting each shield with sheet metal snips, and risking exposure to sharp metal edges. These operations can be dangerous, and serious injury can occur. For anyone who is not competent or comfortable performing these operations, StopTech firmly recommends that they seek the services of a trained professional.
Find a suitable location inside the cab to mount the TruSpeed module. The module is water resistant, but it should be installed away from high heat sources such as the heating ducts and vents. In most instances, it can easily be attached to the bottom of the dash using the supplied two-sided tape. Separate the red and black wires from the yellow and green wires on the TruSpeed module. Using the supplied ring terminal, route and attach the black wire from the module to a suitable ground. Trim the wire to length as necessary.
