Jeep is one of the most recognisable automotive brands in the world, an icon for four-wheel drive capability. Owing its origins to the first ever 4×4, the Willys MB, a tough and versatile cross-country vehicle designed for the US Army in 1941. As direct descendants, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee and Wrangler still have the same go-anywhere do anything attitude to life bringing a testimony to Jeep’s continuing 4×4 leadership. Resiliently true to its historic military roots of 65 years. Jeep vehicles are still the most authentic, most uncompromising, most exciting four wheel drive vehicles in the world. Vehicles designed to tackle the urban jungle or to conquer the world’s most inhospitable challenges. Rugged, yet refined; practical yet supremely appointed. Jeep vehicles take their owners to new
The Cherokee should be moved on the ground with the aid of the nose wheel tow-bar provided with each plane and secured in the baggage compartment. Tie down ropes may be secured to rings provided under each wing and to the tail skid. The aileron and stabilator controls should be secured by utilization of the control column lock pin in the left hand wheel control column. The rudder is held in position by its connections to the nose wheel steering and normally does not have to be secured. The flaps are locked when in the full up position and should be left retracted. It is the responsibility of the owner and pilot to determine that the airplane remains within the allowable weight vs. center of gravity envelope while in flight.
PRE-INSTALLATION NOTES
1. Performance Automotive Group systems do not incorporate components to accommodate extended cab and/or two-piece drive shafts unless otherwise stated.
2. Post installation vehicles may experience driveline vibrations. Driveline angles may require tuning, slider on shaft may require replacement, shafts may need to be lengthened, shafts may need to be trued and U-joints may require frequent replacement. Performance Automotive Group systems are not recommended for vehicles with 13” or shorter drive shafts.
3. All replacement spring or add-a-leaf systems require compression stop installation or spring failure may occur. Not all Performance Automotive Group systems include compression stop extensions to maintain this criteria. Compression stop to axle dimension must be maintained or your Performance Automotive Group warranty may be voided.
4. Refer to OE service manual for proper disassembly/assembly procedures for OE components (like steering shaft, anything else). Consult the following instructions for special tools necessary for this installation.
5. Compare parts included in your system with the enclosed parts list. Placing hardware with components before you start may reduce installation time. Contact your Trail Master dealer if any parts are missing or appear to be different than those indicated on the parts list.
The new Jeep Cherokee that debuted late last year not only presented a bold new look, it also introduced two new engines, new suspension and steering, and a number of new features. In this report we test the Sport version, powered by the all-new 2.5 litre DOHC direct injection common rail turbo diesel engine built by DaimlerChrysler. The previous diesel engine was an Italian-made 2.5 litre OHV unit with indirect mechanical fuel injection. The Sport also comes with a 3.7 litre SOHC V6 that produces more power and torque than the previous 4.0 litre OHV in-line six. The more upmarket Cherokee Limited comes only with the V6 petrol engine.
Under no circumstances should individuals attempt to perform axle service and/or maintenance procedures for which they have not been trained or do not have the proper tools and equipment. 1.ALWAYS wear safety glasses that meet OSHA requirements when performing maintenance or service. Failure to wear safety glasses can result in personal injury and/or partial or complete vision loss. 2.ALWAYS be careful handling gears or other sharp components, so you do not cut your hands. 3.ALWAYS be sure to follow torque specifications carefully. Failure to do so may lead to premature component failure or damage to other vehicle components.
