The BMW Universal Bluetooth Hands-Free System (ULF) utilizes BluetoothTM wireless technology to enable a wireless connection to be established between a BluetoothTM enabled mobile phone and the ULF Control Module installed in the vehicle. This interface is suitable for BMW 5 seriesi523C530 etcjC3seriesCNew X5CX6Cwith DIP switch settings, this interface support all BMW 8.8C6.5 LVDS screensB With the iDRV CAN bus to IR signal converter inside, the interface can also control DVD/DVBT operations based on the iDrv knob operation. This interface also support BMW 1series[E87], but some modification is needed, please consult your distribution for further information. BMW-7 and old BMW X5 needs a different interface.
INSTALLATION
1: take out the middle part of the rear seat
2: remove plastic rings using a flat screwdriver, loosen 2 torx TX20 screws
3: push the lever (red arrow) backwards and remove the separation
4: remove covers and then the screws behind it
5: remove the plastic frame
6: remove the sealing ledge and the plastic cover
7: remove side part of the rear seat, it is clipsed
8: pull out plastic pin to remove plastic rivet
9: cover is multiple clipsed, pull it in the shown direction
10: remove connector: pull down latch (arrow 1), then turn strap to the top (arrow 2)
11: remove cover of connector, use screwdriver to unlock cover
12: pull out connector and demount the two parts of it
13/14: pull out the green (Pin 41) and orange/green (orange with green stripe, Pin 40) wire. Push down the latch using a small flat screwdriver, pull out the wire a bit (left picture), then push down the latch
again and pull out the wire completely (right picture). Remove the wires brown/white (brown with white stripe, Pin 13) and brown/purple (brown with purple stripe, Pin 14). You will find these wires in the other part of the connector.
15: plug the removed wires into the 2-pole connector housings:
2-pole connector 1: orange/green -> Pin 1 green -> Pin 2
2-pole connector 2: brown/white -> Pin 1 brown/purple -> Pin 2
If your Sedan has fold down seats, we will only need to remove the carpeting from the Driver’s Side of the trunk. If it does not, it’s easiest to remove the entire trunk lining. If your vehicle is HK equipped, you’ll need to remove your factory subwoofers prior to installing the D110 enclosure. Simply remove the four 8mm bolts that secure each enclosure to the rear deck and tuck the wiring harnesses back into the rear deck.
Here are some of the materials should be used: Set of headlights, A can of black high heat spray paint, Small and large paint brush, clear silicone sealant, Masking tape, Tinfoil, Butter knife, Ear buds & Nail polish remover, Flat Screwdriver.
For exposed underhood wiring, teflon insulated wire with its associated high temperature capability is recommended. Additional connectors, and hardware, that is not included with this unit may also be needed. As the mounting configuration will vary significantly from vehicle to vehicle, hardware to mount the tachometer to the vehicle is not included. Whether you use self tapping or a machine screw and nut configuration, # 8 hardware including flat and lockwashers is recommended.
Preparation Turn off car‘s engine and remove key from ignition. Using the stereo removal tools carefully remove radio from the dash pocket
At the back of the stereo locate harness which connects your radio to the car. It should have pins like shown below (either of two shown ) on a digram. 3 wires coming out of adapter are marked with the colors. Depending on your harness you need to connect adapter wires to the appropriate car stereo wires according to the picture above To simplify the installation 3 T-Tap clips have been included with the adapter. Secure male terminals on a wires coming out of the adapters so you have it like shown below.
