Installation time
The installation time is 5.5 hours, but this may vary depending on the condition of the car and the equipment in it. Important information. These installation instructions are primarily designed for use within the BMW dealership organisation and by authorised BMW service companies. In any event the target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on BMW cars with the appropriate specialist knowledge. All work must be completed using the latest BMW repair manuals, circuit diagrams, servicing manuals and work instructions in a rational order using the prescribed tools (special tools) and observing current health and safety regulations.
On cars with airbags, you may notice bright yellow tubes or harnesses marked SRS (Supplemental Restraint Sys- tem) underneath the steering column area. DO NOT tamper with these wires in any way, to prevent personal injury and/or damage to the air bag system. On GM rear-wheel drive vehicles built prior to 1995 and Dodge Dakota trucks built prior to 1996, see the last page of this instruction manual. Some installers connect a battery charger to the vehicle’s bat- tery during installation. This is fine, but it must be removed before running the vehicle under remote starter control.
1. Introduction
Parrot’s unique Bluetooth Car Kits give customers the convenience of hands-free phone use in their cars, vans, pickups, and SUVs. Use of a hands-free phone helps to minimize driving distractions and optimize driver safety by permitting drivers’ hands to stay on the wheel and eyes to remain focused on the road. In fact, many states and cities have recently enacted laws and ordinances that ban the use of hand-held phones while driving. However, whether or not a customer can take full advantage of Parrot’s hands-free technology depends in large part on each individual dealer – and how well the Car Kit is installed, as well as how well dealers, installers, and their associates can guide your customer through its proper use. This Parrot Installation Guide is designed for use by all Parrot product dealers and installers. The document’s primary focus is on the needs of the independent installing retailer and methods for ensuring customer satisfaction.
There are 2 types of Bose systems available in some models of vehicles listed above. Turn factory radio volume up and down rapidly. If the sound system reacts immediately then the system is a standard BOSE, not a Premium BOSE. If the sound system volume does not react immediately, but has a noticeable delay, the system is a Premium BOSE and not compatible with the GM09SR. If “Premium” Bose Amplifier is not used or is bypassed, then the GM09SR can be used to retain warning chimes only. Alternate parts are available to INTEGRATE “Premium Bose” and OnStar systems.
Your Factory stereo is an integral part of your vehicle’s SAFETY and WARNING CHIME systems. If the stereo is removed without the proper installation accessory, various warning chimes and/or some functions of your vehicle may be LOST including:
• Key left in ignition chime
• Seatbelt warning chime
• +12V Accessory Power at Radio’s location
• Lights left on chime
• RAP (Retained Accessory Power)
• Low fuel
• Check Engine/Service indicator
• Low oil level
These instructions were developed specifically for MINI vehicles and are not to be compared to any existing instructions for vehicles other than MINI. A. Is this product compatible with the vehicle?
• See Appendix A – Known Incompatible Vehicles (page 5) and Appendix E – Identification and Connection Chart (pages 6-7) to see if your vehicle is listed.
B. Is this product compatible with the head unit?
• Ensure that the new head unit is capable of being operated with a remote control, and that it responds to the remote control provided with it.
• The head unit must accept a remote control with the common carrier frequency range of 38 – 40Khz in order to work with the SWI-X.
Note: Certain head units will not work with the SWI-X. See Appendix B – Known Incompatible Aftermarket Head Units (page 5).
C. Prepare for the installation.
• If possible, install the SWI-X while you are installing the new head unit. Keep in mind you may need to plug in the factory stereo to locate certain wires; therefore do not complete the head unit installation until the SWI-X is working properly.
• Plan a general installation location for both the SWI-X LED and the control body. Keep in mind that the supplied wire harness is two feet long, and the IR harness is four feet long.
• Use a multimeter or approved measuring device for checking vehicle circuits.

Servicing air conditioning The air conditioning system in your NISSAN vehicle is charged with a new refrigerant designed with the environment in mind. This new refrigerant will not harm the earth’s ozone layer. Special charging equipment and lubricant is required when servicing your NISSAN air conditioner. Using improper refrigerants or lubricants will cause severe damage to your air conditioning system. See ‘‘Air conditioning system refrigerant and lubricant recommendations’’ in the ‘‘Technical and consumer information’’ section of this manual. Your NISSAN dealer will be able to service your environmentally conscious air conditioning system.
INSTALLATION: Follow the steps below 1. Remove rubber mat from bottom of tray behind driver seat by pulling up on tab. All models do not have this mat. 2. Remove tray by removing four 7/32 bolts from tray. Retain these items to replace if you sell the vehicle. 7/32″ Bolts to be Removed 3. Attach one bracket provided to bottom of enclosure front beneath woofer. The other bracket provided attaches to the left side of the enclo- sure at the top towards the rear of the enclosure as shown below. 4. In front of the terminal cup there is a hole left where the factory tray was removed this is unseen with the seat in the normal driving position. You can repair this spot by cutting a small piece of carpet from beneath the tray location and gluing it into this hole or under the carpet in this spot. 5. If externally amplified make speaker connections to the enclosure from your amplifier; loosen terminal knobs (a 13mm nut driver can be used). Connect wires from amplifier to enclosure, positive to red terminal knob and negative to black terminal knob.
