Your vehicle may have a manual passenger seat. To adjust the seat, lift the bar under the front of the seat to unlock it. Slide the seat to where you want it and release the bar. Try to move the seat back and forth with your body to be sure the seat is locked in place. If your vehicle is equipped with power front seats, the controls are located on the outboard sides of the front seat cushions.

Move the front of the horizontal control up or down to raise or lower the front portion of the cushion. Move the rear of the horizontal control up or down to raise or lower the rear portion of the cushion. Lift up or push down on the center of the horizontal control to move the entire seat up or down. To move the seat forward or rearward, slide the horizontal control forward or rearward.

Your vehicle may have this feature. The driver’s and passenger’s seatback lumbar support can be adjusted by moving the control located on the outboard side of the seat cushions. To increase or decrease support, hold the control forward or rearward. Keep in mind that as your seating position changes, as it may during long trips, so should the position of your lumbar support. Adjust the seat as needed.

If your vehicle has manual reclining front seatbacks, the levers are located on the outboard sides of the front seats. Lift the lever to release the seatback, then move the seatback to where you want it. Release the lever to lock the seatback in place. To return the seatback to the upright position, pull up on the lever without pushing on the seatback. If your vehicle has power reclining front seatbacks, the control is located on the outboard side of the front seats. Press the top of the vertical control forward or rearward to adjust the seatback angle.

Adjust your head restraint so that the top of the restraint is closest to the top of your head. This position reduces the chance of a neck injury in a crash. The front seat head restraints move up and down. Press the button located at the bottom of the head restraint to raise or lower the head restraint. The head restraints tilt forward and rearward, also. The second row outboard head rests work the same as the front seat head restraints except they do not tilt.

1. Pull the top edge of the main glass as far forward as practical. It may make a clicking sound as it moves – this is normal. (See Figure 1a) Using a flashlight, locate the vertical rectangular slot on the vehicle side of the main glass opening. It will be alongside a hex-head screw and another rectangular slot – horizontal. (See Figure 1b)

2. Insert your screwdriver through the vertical slot until you feel the tip pressing against a spring loaded clip (see Figure 2 opposite). Push the screwdriver gently against the clip – very little force is needed.

3. At the same time, slide the mirror cover towards the vehicle door. (see Figure 3 opposite) The cover should slide away from the main body of the mirror.

4. To refit the cover, simply position the cover over the main body of the mirror, locate the two hook-like tags in the slots at the top edge of the
mirror body, place the cover flat against the body of the mirror and slide the cover away from the vehicle door. (see Figure 4 opposite). You should hear a definite “click” as the cover locates itself. Check for an even and secure fit of the cover.

Using electrical tape, attach the yellow and red wires to the feeder tube at the vehicle body end. Then pull the feeder tube back through the convoluted grommet. NOTE: Use 6ft of yellow wire on the LH (driver’s) side and 6ft of yellow wire on the RH (passenger’s) side. NOTE: Use 6ft of red wire on the LH (driver’s) side and 12ft of red wire on the RH (passenger’s) side. Feed one end of the yellow extension wire into the vehicles
body and feed it up to and in front of the fuse panel.

NOTE: For pre MY 2003 vehicles feed both the red & yellow extension wires into the vehicles body. For the RH passenger’s side, feed the yellow wire in front of the passenger’s side fuse panel.

Before you begin -Read instructions completely before starting each step. -Pay attention to how parts are removed from the cadillac and make sure to keep track of all parts, in many cases they may be used in the installation.

Step 1. Radiator shroud removal -Remove the plastic radiator shroud by removing the two plastic rivets with a flat blade screw driver or
pry tool. To do this you must first unlock the rivet by prying up on the head of the rivet, located at the center (the head will raise about a half an inch). -Once the rivet has been unlocked it can then be removed. -There are two christmas tree style fasteners at each edge of the plastic shroud. These are removed by inserting your flat blade screw driver/pry tool near the fastener and gently prying upward.

Step 2. Air intake tube removal -Remove stock air intake tube by loosening the two hose clamps, located on each end of the intake tube. Set air intake tube aside, it will be used in the installation process.

Step 3. Stock airbox removal NOTE: Make note of the orientation of the MAF sensor. It will need to be installed in this orientation. -Remove the three mounting bolts using a 10mm socket. -Unplug the mass airflow sensor. -Remove the air box.

Step 4. Removal of the rubber air snorkle -With the air box removed you will be able to remove the rubber snorkel located next to the radiator, under the radiator core support.

Step 5. Remove plastic rivet -With the air box removed, you will see another plastic rivet on the inside fender wall. Using your flat-blade screwdriver/pry tool, remove this and save it for installation.

Step 6. Intallation of air filter heat shield mouting brackets. -Install the two mounting brackets on the inside surface to the air filter heat shield/shroud, as shown. -Long bracket installed. -Short bracket installed -Both brakets installed on the air filter heat shield

Step 7. Installation of rubber seal -Three strips of rubber seal are included with the kit. The longest of the three seals goes on the top of the air filter heat shield and simply presses on, as shown in step 6. Push firmly to make sure the seal is completely seated on the plastic.

Step 8. Intall air filter heat sheild -Install the rear of the heat shield first, then the front. NOTE: make sure you place the coolant hose in the notched out area of the heat shield to avoid pinching the hose. Step 9. Mounting the rear of the air filter heat shield -Install the push rivet removed in step 5 to secure the rear of the air filter heat shield.

Step 10. Mounting the front of the air filter heat shield -Secure the front of the air filter heat shield with the stock air box mounting bolt, as shown.

Most Vehicles (**Except Tracker, Saturn ION, Cadillac CTS and Pontiac Vibe**) If a vehicle has an automatic transmission with a floor shift and it has no electrical power, the electrical solenoid lock must be overridden to shift from Park (P) to Neutral (N). For the majority of GM vehicles, use the following steps.
1. Push the base of the leather shift lever boot forward with your thumb.
2. Lift the boot and find the white solenoid lever.
3. Move the white lever toward the driver’s side to unlock it.
4. While holding the white solenoid lever in the unlock position, press the shift lever button and shift into Neutral (N).
5. Release the solenoid lever and snap the boot back into place.

Tracker
1. Apply the parking brake until the end of Step 6.
2. Turn the key to ON or ACC.
3. Find the access hole cover on the driver’s side of the console, near the shift lever.
4. Remove the screw and cover.
5. Locate the return plate. Using a finger, move the return plate toward the rear of the vehicle until it stops (figure 8).
6. Move the shift lever into the desired gear.

Saturn ION
ION is equipped with an electronic park lock actuator. In the event that the ignition key cannot be rotated to the OFF/LOCK position and removed from the lock cylinder, use the following procedure to manually override the electronic park lock actuator.
1. Make sure the vehicle is in Park (P).
2. Using a flat-tipped tool or another key, carefully pry off the cover from the bottom of the steering column (figure 9).
3. Place your index finger through the access hole and locate the end of the electronic park lock actuator plunger (figure 10).
4. Press and hold the plunger toward the driver’s side door while rotating the ignition key to the OFF/ LOCK position. Remove the key.

Pontiac Vibe
If you cannot shift out of Park (P), ease pressure on the shift lever by pushing the shift lever all the way into Park (P) and releasing the shift lever button as you maintain brake application. Then press the shift lever button and move the shift lever into Neutral (N). If you hold the brake pedal down but still can’t shift out of Park (P), do the following:
1. Turn the ignition to LOCK. Make sure the parking brake is applied.
2. Carefully pry the shift-lock override small, round cover from the floor-shift console located to the right of the shift lever (figure 11).
3. Insert the end of a flat-tipped tool into the circular slot and press down firmly.
4. While maintaining brake application, move the shift lever into Neutral (N).

Cadillac CTS
Automatic transmission CTS vehicles are equipped with a shift lock release. Use the following procedure to release the shift lever and shift the vehicle into Park (P) under dead battery or low battery voltage conditions.
1. Pull up on the rear part of the leather boot that surrounds the shift lever (figure 12).
2. Fold the boot upward to expose the mechanism benath the shift lever.
3. Locate and remove the small oval cap near the forward, right side of shift mechanism (figure 13).
4. Using a narrow, pointed tool, press down on the mechanism under the cap so that you can move the shift lever (figure 14).

2. The kits shown below are Audiovox kits. Your retailer may sell kits made by other manufacturers which may also be usable to install this radio. Always check the kit application before purchasing it to make sure it will work with your vehicle.
3. If you believe you need a kit but cannot find a retail store where it is available, call our toll-free “HELP” line.

This installation is designed for cars, trucks, vans, and boats that have an existing radio opening. It can also be used as an option on some of the vehicles listed as requiring the AX-88-SNP kit. It will not work on all vehicles, but can be used on most newer Fords and many imports.
1. Inspect the Existing Radio Opening:
A. Use the trimplate supplied with the radio to cover the existing opening. If it completely covers the opening, you can install the radio as explained below. If it does not cover the opening, you will need an installation kit.
B. Check that there will be sufficient space behind the dashboard for the radio chassis.
2. Wire the Radio to the Vehicle’s Wiring:
A. In most cases it is easier to wire the radio before mounting it. Place the radio near the dashboard so the wires can be led through the opening.
B. Carefully follow the diagram on page 8 to wire the radio, making certain all connections are secure and insulated with wire nuts or electrical tape to insure proper operation of the unit.
C. After completing the wiring, turn the unit on to confirm operation (ignition switch must be “on”). If unit does not operate, re-check all wiring until problem is corrected. Once proper operation is achieved, turn off unit and ignition switch, and proceed with final mounting of the radio.
3. Mounting the Radio:
A. Thread a shaft nut half-way down each radio shaft.
B. Place a metal back-up plate on each radio shaft against the shaft nut.
C. Position the radio behind the dashboard opening so that the back-up plates are snug against the back of the opening. Adjust the shaft nuts behind the back-up plates so that the desired amount of radio extends through the opening. If possible, the best appearance is usually achieved when there is enough of the radio extending to be flush with the front of the trimplate.
D. Place the trimplate over the front of the radio and secure it with a shaft nut on each radio shaft.
E. Attach one end of the perforated support strap (supplied) to the screw stud on the radio using the hex nut provided. Fasten the other end of the perforated strap to a secure part of the dashboard either above or below the radio using the screw and nut provided. Bend the strap to position it as necessary. CAUTION: The rear of the radio must be supported with the strap to prevent damage to the dashboard from the weight of the radio or improper operation of the radio due to vibration.
F. Install knobs on radio shafts.

Important-This installation is designed for 1981 and older U.S. made GM cars, trucks, and vans. For 1981 and newer vehicles, an installation kit may be required. See Kit Listing on Page 1 of this manual or refer to the in-store application chart. If a kit is not required, use the following instructions.
1. Remove the Existing Radio:
A. Remove radio knobs and shaft nuts behind the knobs.
B. Locate and remove support brace at back of radio.
C. Push radio back into dashboard to access the wiring and antenna cables plugged into the rear of the chassis.
D. Un-plug the wiring harness(es) and antenna cable and remove the radio.
2. Wire the New Radio:
3. Install the New Radio:
A. Thread a shaft nut half-way down each radio shaft.
B. Trim the top edge off of the nosepiece collar at the “CUT OFF FOR GM” mark and place the collar on radio nosepiece.
C. Place the radio behind dashboard and through the radio opening. Adjust the position of the shaft nuts so that the radio nosepiece and collar are flush against the back of the dashboard.
D. Secure the radio with a shaft nut on each radio shaft.

Motor vehicle theft is a serious problem in many parts of the world. In the United States, the annual loss from car theft is over $4 billion. The Automotive Information Council reports that over one million motor vehicles are stolen in the U.S. each year. That’s one motor vehicle theft every 31 seconds. For a variety of reasons, some motor vehicles have a greater probability of being stolen than others. As reported by CCC Information Services, Inc., the following are the 25 most stolen motor vehicles in the U.S. in 1996:

Vehicle Crime Prevention Recommendations
! Lock it and pocket the keys. Nearly 20% of all vehicles stolen had the keys in them. Remember to lock the trunk, the hatchback or the tailgate of a station wagon or sport utility vehicle (SUV)
! If your motor vehicle is an older model, replace standard door lock buttons with tapered ones. These replacements are inexpensive and much more difficult to pry up.
! Don’t leave motor vehicle registration, insurance policies, credit cards or other important papers in a vehicle’s glove compartment.
! If you use a self-service gasoline stations or convenience stores, don’t leave the keys in the vehicle when you go inside to pay your bill.
! Don’t place a mini-replica of a license plate or personal identification on a vehicle’s key ring.

! Consider installing safety security film on the windows. With the film added to the glass, the window will be 300% to 400% stronger. Intruders must cut their way through the glass, thus taking more time. The safety film is clear and reflects up to 98% of the sun’s ultraviolet rays.
! Never hide a second set of keys in the vehicle. Extra keys can easily be found if the thief takes time to look. Store a spare key in your wallet.
! If possible, avoid parking next to vans, pick-ups, and other large vehicles. These large vehicles can “hide” your vehicle and make it more difficult for others to observe.
! When parking along a curb, angle the front wheels sharply to the left or right, making it difficult for the thief to tow it away. Wheels should also be turned to the side in driveways and parking lots.
! If your vehicle is rear-wheel drive, back into your driveway. Rear wheels lock on four-wheel drive vehicles, making them difficult to tow. Front-wheel drive vehicles should be parked front end first.

! Periodically check your license plates to make sure they haven’t been stolen, switched or altered.
! Join Operation Identification and engrave your driver’s license number or social security number in several concealed places on, or in your motor vehicle. Drop a business card into the window channel, beneath the seat or behind the dash panel.
! Engrave batteries, wheel covers and car stereos with either your drivers license number or social security number preceded by your state’s initials.
! Don’t invite a vehicle break-in by leaving packages or valuables (radar detectors, cellular phones, compact disc players, etc.) in sight. Take valuables with you, put them under the seat or lock them in the trunk.
! Whenever possible, park in well lighted and busy areas.
! Whenever possible, park in an attended lot. Motor vehicle thieves do not like witnesses and prefer unattended parking lots.
! When you park in an attended lot, leave only the ignition/door key. If your trunk and
