The 2007 X5 gets a bold, new look to match its dynamic personality. The X5 has a wider, sportier stance than its predecessor; the “face” and the power dome are more aggressively styled. Xenon Adaptive Headlights with Corona light-rings are standard. Five sporty light-alloy wheel designs allow personalized styling. Shadowline trim (included in Sport Package) updates the look of the front and rear windows. Standard exhaust tips come in either chrome (on the X5 4.8i) or stainless steel (on the 3.0si). The exterior door and tailgate handles on both models are painted to match the body, which is finished in one of nine stunning colors, including Platinum Bronze (start of production December 2006), Deep Green or Monaco Blue. And optional running boards provide an eye-catching and easy way for passengers to get into or out of this impressive SAV.

The X5 offers many ways to create a luxurious interior, with available Nevada and Napa Leather upholsteries in a range of colors, as well as a choice of elegant trims: Dark Burl Walnut, Light Poplar, and Dark Bamboo Wood; and Graphite. There’s even a choice of options for front seats, such as the Active Ventilated Seat Package that offers 20-way multi-contour adjustments, warming or cooling ventilation, and driver’s- side massage function; or 10-way power front sport seats with manual thigh adjustment and memory system for the driver’s seat, included with the Sport Package. Select the standard MP3-ready, 12-speaker sound system, or upgrade to the premium 16-speaker system, for powerful audio clarity. And overhead, an optional Panoramic moonroof with two oversized glass panels – one slides, both tilt – makes it easy for all passengers to enjoy the view.

Big news for backseat passengers: the all-new 2007 BMW X5 now offers an optional third-row seat,1 so seven people can enjoy the X5’s luxurious comfort and thrilling performance. Additionally, when equipped with the optional third-row seat, the second-row seatbacks can recline. Front-seat and second-row passengers can enjoy the customizable comfort of optional heated seats and four-zone climate control. Connecting PPC® to the car Connect the supplied OBDII cable to the PPC® modular port. Do not connect PPC® to the car and PC at the same time, it can damage PPC®. Connect PPC® to the OBDII outlet of the car. The location of the OBDII outlet is shown on the picture on last page.
Turn ignition on, to the second position before the starter motor gets activated. Turn off all current consumers, such as: radio, headlight, air conditioning, electric seat heater, window defroster, cooling fan etc. Do not activate any current consumers while programming.

Upgrading the PPC Software upgrades can be downloaded to PPC®. To be able to do that you need a COM-port cable, USB-cable and the program PPC Update. The PPC® must not be exposed to water, moisture or condensation. Store PPC® in a place free from dust and vibrations. Do not store PPC® near strong magnetic fields.

The ULF Control Module forms an interface that allows a mobile phone with the embedded Bluetooth wireless technology feature to be wirelessly integrated into the vehicle. For the first time BMW is introducing a new generation hands-free telephone system kit that provides the customer with the option of using various BluetoothTM enabled mobile phones (a list of recommended phones is available from your BMW Car Center).

The name BluetoothTM is derived from the Danish King Harald Bluetooth who lived in the 10th century. He was well known for his ability to unify his kingdom and today lends his name to a wireless technology standard that can connect/unify various electronic devices that are BluetoothTM enabled and located within a short range (approx. 10 m or 32.8 ft) of each other.

BluetoothTM wireless technology is a short-range radio frequency technology standard that allows several devices to communicate with each other simultaneously. The standard indicates that up to seven simultaneous connections can be established and maintained at one time, as long as the connected devices are within a range of 10 m (32.8 ft).

Note: The ULF system will allow four phones to be paired to the system at a time and only allow one phone to be connected at a time.

BMW Assist also provides support in the event of an emergency or a breakdown. An automatic emergency call relaying your current position
to the call centre and communication of vehicle data to BMW Service in the event of a breakdown ensure swift and accurate on-the-scene assistance. BMW Assist helps you to reach your destination more quickly and safely.

Is there a traffic jam ahead? BMW Assist provides you with information on the up-to-date traffic situation faster than traffic news on the radio. Over 4,000 sensors sited along all German motorways deliver their measurement results in order to portray the traffic conditions in
real time. In the event of a traffic jam warning, your car’s navigation system will automatically suggest an alternative route.

How could help arrive so quickly? BMW Assist ensures rapid assistance in case of an accident. As soon as your airbags are deployed, BMW Assist automatically establishes a telephone connection to the BMW Call Centre. The nearest rescue centre is then notified straight away. The crucial factor here is that BMW Assist also transmits your car’s present location, saving valuable minutes in an emergency. Even if you are present at the cene of an accident without actually being involved, ou can make contact with the Service Centre anually. In this case, too, BMW Assist will provide rapid assistance.

Where’s the next hotel? Restaurants, hotels or cultural events – the expert staff at the telephone information service will always be able to make a tailor-made suggestion for your current location or your destination. If you wish, the addresses and phone numbers you require will be sent to your car. The destination can be transferred to the navigation system at the touch of a button. Transmitted telephone numbers can be stored just as easily in the phone.

How does the Breakdown Service know where to find me? Should you require on-the-scene assistance from a mobile BMW Service Technician, you will find the entry “Breakdown Service” in BMW Assist. When you activate this menu item, your current position together with important vehicle data are transmitted to the BMW Service partner. They will provide you with the quickest possible on-the-scene assistance so that you can continue your journey with minimum delay.

Where is the nearest free parking space? The last thing you need after driving for several hours is to spend even longer looking for somewhere to park once you’ve arrived. Simply leave it to BMW Online. Car parks with free spaces are displayed immediately in most cities and at major airports without you having to spend a long time looking (wherever parking availability is monitored). The navigation system directs the driver straight to the nearest one with spaces.

Have I received any e-mails? E-mails and personal data can also be easily accessed while you are on the road. Because BMW Online gives you an e-mail account and personal address book in one. Address entries can be transferred to your car from a PC via the BMW Online portal and directly adopted as your destination by the navigation system. E-mails can be called up directly in the car.

How are my shares? What’s the weather going to do? Details of the weather, including a forecast, are available for any specific location. The weather can also be displayed in 3D. BMW Online can even send you share price information to your car. Also on board: personal “watch list” and “stock informer” for searching specifically for individual shares. Current company news and graphic market summaries provide you with the big picture. dpa brings you the latest news.

Where is the next cash point? BMW Online knows not only the locations of over 65,000 cash points, but also a wide range of Yellow Pages information. Private phone numbers and company addresses all over Germany are also available. The data is transferred directly to the navigation system or car phone at the touch of a button. You are then swiftly directed to your new destination.

Where can I find the nearest restaurant? BMW Online decisively shortens your search. The selected destination is then simply sent to the navigation system at the touch of a button. A direct telephone connection can also be established at once. The recommendations are based on the Michelin Guide, among other sources.

What attractions are there at my destination? Leisure time is the best time. And thanks to BMW Online you now have even more of it. Sights, tourist attractions and museums near to your car’s current location or any other destination are no mystery to BMW Online. The Green Guide from ViaMichelin ensures that the information provided is up to date and of the highest possible quality.

BMW Online delivers Internet-based services to your car, providing you with more up-to-date information than ever before. The both 2-pole connectors must be plugged to the module: connect the wire pairs green and orange/green to red/black and grey/black. The
wire pairs brown/white and brown/purple will be connected to green and blue. Take care that blue wire will lead to the brown/purple wire and the
red/black wire leads to the orange/green wire.
16: plug the 4 wires with crimp contacts on it into the connector on the places where the other wires were removed:
Pin 13: green
Pin 14: blue
Pin 40: yellow/black
Pin 41: grey/black
Be sure that the crimp contacts are inserted correctly, they must snap hearable.

17: power connection of the module: Connect the both wires red and black of the module using the blue crimp connectors: Module black (GND) red (+12V) To achieve optimized crimp connection: strip the black and red wire about 2cm, bend it so that the wire diameter is doubled before crimping it. Use a combination pliers to push the metal bar down. Car brown (Pin 21) red/grey or red/green (Pin 22)

Attention: Installation of this module may be grounds to invalidate your BMW vehicle’s homologation (general type certification) and/or its manufacturer’s warranty. Do not operate the convertible top without the presence of another person – there is no entanglement protection. The installation and operation of the module is at your own risk.

Tools Required:
• Panel Removal Tool
• Flat Head screwdriver
• Crimping Tool / Wire Cutters
• Metric Socket Set
• Brain

We’re going to proceed as follows:
1. Disassembling the trunk
2. Power/ground wire connections
3. Making appropriate wiring connections for audio inputs
4. Installing the subwoofer enclosure
5. Tuning/testing the system

INSTALLATION:
1. Begin by removing all items from the trunk of the vehicle. Make sure that all tail lights are in working order. If not, now is a good time to replace them. Also remove the carpet that covers the floor of the trunk, as it will reveal several fasteners that will need removing.
2. Start by removing the taillight covers on both sides of the BMW vehicle. Turn the knob on each taillight counter clock-wise until the cover becomes loose (Figure 1).
3. Now, look to the floor of the trunk. You will see that the two plastic casings on either side of the trunk are secured by plastic screws on the passenger side and fasteners on the drivers’ side. The plastic screws on the passenger side can be removed using a flat head screwdriver.
4. Remove these panels and place them aside. Keep all of the fasteners here so as not to lose them.
5. Now, look to the carpeted drivers’ side of the trunk, and you will see two fasteners securing the side panel. Remove these using your panel removal tool.
6. DO NOT Remove the two fasteners on either side of the rear of the carpeted panels where the three panels seemingly come together. You will need to remove the large, circular plastic insert in the center of the rear of the trunk however.
7. Notice the green manual gas tank release on the passenger side (photo above). Disconnect this as shown.
8. You can now start removing the entire trunk lining from the drivers’ side. Just be patient, and it will come right out. Your trunk should look like this with the paneling removed. The factory amplifier is the black box below, and is where we’ll be making several of our connections.

Installation of the trunk panels will of course be the reverse of the above process. You’ll want to make sure and put the trunk lining back in before you install your subwoofer enclosure. However, make sure that you have all wiring connections completed before you re-install the trunk liner!

Power Wire (Large Gauge Red Wire): Route the large red wire to the positive terminal of the battery. Loosen and remove the 10mm nut on top of the terminal that secures the actual terminal to the battery. Put the amplifier power wire ring over the bolt, and tighten the nut back down with the terminal on the battery. This is the primary power supply for your new amplifier. Connect the other side of the power wire to the +12V terminal on the amplifier. ONLY when both sides of the wire are connected should you install the included fuse into the in-line.

INSTALLATION
1. Position the Z4025 Performance Chip on the chip socket in the “Motronic” unit. Figure 14.
Note: Verify that the orientation is the same as the chip that was removed. Figure 14.
2. Gently push the pins on the Chip into the receptacles in the socket.
3. Look under the chip, with a flashlight, to make certain that ALL pins entered their receptacles. Figure 15.
4. Press the Chip fully into place.
5. Install the white plastic retainer.
6. Re-assemble the “Motronic” unit. Figure 16.
7. Carefully, install the “Motronic” unit in the same location from which it was removed. Figure 17.
Note: a bent pin will make trouble shooting very difficult.
8. Reinstall fuel tank.
9. Start the engine. Let it idle and rev it up. If the engine does not perform correctly, disassemble the “Motronic” unit to look for bent pins.
10. Reinstall all body panels in reverse order of assembly.
