STEP 1.
Begin by opening the arm rest cover. Insert your hook tool under the left side of the small trim piece next to the cup holder. Pull gently to release
the left retainer clip. Repeat on the right side to remove the trim piece. Remove the two (2) Phillips screws that are behind the small trim piece.
Next, set the emergency brake and put the gear shift lever into gear. Remove the trim bezel around the gear shift by inserting your hook tool
under its edge and gently pulling upwards. Work your hook tool around the bezel to release all six (6) clips. Lift the panel up and set aside. Do
not disconnect the wiring .
Nissan released the Nissan Altima Hybrid in North America in January of 2007. The Nissan Altima Hybrid runs on conventional gasoline and a traction motor. The basic vehicle systems and features of the Altima Hybrid are the same as those of the conventional Altima, except where noted in this guide. This First Responder’s Guide was published to help educate and assist first responders in the safe handling of the Altima Hybrid and its technology.
It is preferable to park on a flat surface, as you may have to engage and disengage the hand brake and shift from gears to neutral. If you cannot do so and are obliged to install the short shifter on a slightly inclined surface, place wooden blocks in front or behind the wheels to prevent the car from moving while you’re working.
For the first time, the Altima is available as a two-door coupe. Aside from the hybrid engine, the coupe is available with the same powertrains as the sedan. Where it differs from the sedan is in its dimensions, yielding 10.1 cm in wheelbase, 18.5 cm in length and 6.6 cm in height. The Altima coupe is available in 2.5 S and 3.5 SE trim lines.

A. Pre-Installation Suggestions
1. It is advisable to disconnect the negative battery cable for 3 minutes before beginning installation, to avoid unintended air bag deployment. Note and record any anti-theft radio codes prior to disconnecting. (Figure 1 on PDF)
