In recent times light duty or small four wheel drive vehicles have proven to be one of the most popular segments of the new car market in Australia. The Ford Sierra was first introduced in late 1982 with the option of seven different engines and four different trim levels. This manual covers the four cylinder in-line petrol engines, but other models in the range are fitted with V6 or diesel engines. The Sierra was introduced by Ford as the successor to the Cortina and initially received a mixed reception as it was one of the first vehicles to make use of the “aeroback” body style designed to reduce the air drag coefficient to a minimum in the interests of fuel economy.
The new platform provides 10% more torsional rigidity than the previous model, and includes the independent rear suspension. As in previous years, the Expedition is powered by the 5.4 L (5408 cc, 330 cu in) Triton V8 engine, rated at 300 hp (220 kW) and 365 lbf·ft (495 N·m) of torque, which when properly equipped can tow up to 9,100 lb (4,130 kg). The Ford Expedition is a full-size SUV built by the Ford Motor Company first introduced in 1997. The 2007 Ford Expedition was redesigned, utilizing the new T1 ford expedition 2007 platform.
Advancements in rubber chemistry and improved engineering have resulted in a timing belt that is better and may last longer than a timing chain. That is, if the belt is installed and tensioned correctly. Timing belts are better. They are lighter, quieter and you don’t have to lube them. They can simplify many otherwise complex engine designs and they can drive multiple components. A regular inspection and scheduled replacement of the timing belt is a necessary maintenance procedure. The recommended replacement intervals may range from 36,000 – 100,000 miles, and they are documented in the owner’s manual and service manuals.
